Some movies don’t display video (black screen) on HDMI monitors (tested HD and 4K monitors with no HDR). Audio works and subtitles work. Every movie displays fine on DV-enabled TV. Two example movies that don’t display video on monitors are Bohemian Rhapsody and 1917. If I disable “Allow hardware acceleration - amcodec” under System/Settings/Player/Videos, the video output works but is unwatchable. I’m currently using the NG nightly build but the video issue also occurs with the NG Release. The New Order (NO) build does not have this issue, perhaps because of the Kodi 22 player. The logs are at: https://paste.coreelec.org/ShoppingCapades.
Try to force colour depth to 10bit in System/Display settings or use CE-NO.
CE-NG have no future anyway.
I occasionally have the same issue with a version of NG that I use for experimental purposes. No problem with NO. Obviously Portisch is correct in his comments.
Also, I find Kodi 22 the far superior version.
Thanks for the replies. Changing the color depth to 10bit did not have any affect. I should say that I got the black screen video for some movies on a small 1920x1080p TV before I tried the monitors. Also, in the log file that I previously sent I started playing two videos. The first had black screen video and the second worked fine on the HD TV. I just tried the ng nightly build on a big Samsung TV (obviously no DV) and it worked fine. That made me happy but I can’t explain why the small HD TV shows a black screen for some videos!
Because that TV cannot display all modes.?
