I read this and wondered a)why you wanted it for TV only? b)do you have a Plex server compatible TV tuner? c) do you need to use Plex?
I run Plex server from docker in Coreelec and it’s superb but I’ve never got it to work with my tuner even tho it’s on the list of approved tuners from Plex. Maybe it’s possible but I’m not up to the job.
For my live TV and recordings I use TVheadend and it works super too, albeit with a lot of head scratching when setting up. It will let me use multiple clients in my home( so I can watch without aerial in multiple rooms) but not when away from home and that’s good enough for me.
From my experience at "determined intelligent amateur"level, I can only point you to this route.
Edit: on reading again, I think I may have misunderstood. I now think you’ve set up your Plex server with live TV and are seeking a Plex client to run on Coreelec that supports live tv. I don’t know but suggest try the wonderful PM for Kodi from here PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21) - Desktop Players - Plex Forum. Install instructions are in the first post.
Thank you for replying.
My friend wants to cut the cord, but his wife has some demanding requests for live TV.
She wants to share the TV shows with her daughter using a sever, either plex of Emby. They want to watch the same show at the same time so they can talk on the phone about it.
She records the show or starts watching halfway through, so they see NO commercials. She is pushing for Plex since it removes the commercials from the recordings.
She wants to tun on the player and go directly to the TV section.
I tried PM4k on CoreELEC AND on the Android version of Kodi, still NO live TV section. So, I think that PM4k is only for movies or TV shows, and no live TV.
They purchased the Flex 4k. They have to Plex server running on a Synology NAS.
I can’t figure out how to accomplish this task.
This all started about a month ago when he asked me for help cutting the cord. He did NOT know Plex was, nor about the HDHomeRun tuners.
Outside the remit of this forum and my experience but I know that Plex do a client for android and I have it (to try/play with only) in my smart TV. Roku and fire stick have Plex client apps too (hope I’ve not broken forum rules). I believe that these all support the PVR function.
That’s as much as I do to help/confuse.
Yes, hope we don’t get banned
From my understanding, she is very picky, totally clueless about technology.
The Android version of Plex is too “cluttered” for her. It has to be very simple.
Was hoping something like Plex HT would work but can’t find such animal based on CoreELEC.
