Remote controll double key presses

Hello friends. Happy Christmas. First of all great work with coreelec in general. Big thanks to all who contribute to this project.

I would like some info regarding remote controls. I have the ugoos am6b+. I want a good remote for coreelec but it seems that i always have a similar problem. I tried 2. The UR02 from ugoos and rii i25. The original UR01 seem to work fine for the time i used it.

The UR02 started double key pressing after a week or 2 of use. I mean, whenever i press a button to the remote 8/10 times it will register twice. I was using it in BT mode.

Then i got rii i25. This lasted longer, but again after some months -recently-, it started double pressing the page down button. Rii i25 is connected through 2.4ghz dongle.

Now i am thinking of getting the flirc skip 1s, but a) i am afraid it will end up like the other 2 and b) the budget for remotes will go even higher.

Also my TV’s remote is great, i could use it through cec, but it misses a lot of buttons, i mean channel up/down changes source. If there is a way to customize it (i don’t think so), it could be a solution.

Sorry if my post is missing stuff, tell me if i need to post event logs or anything else. I use the latest 21 nightly build with remote keymap addon and arctic fuse 2 skin from jurialmonkey repository.

Edit: Now i feel dump. I had enabled kodi http remote some time ago. I just now disabled enable http remote in kodi and there is a possibility it is fixed. I will check better later in the day and post again for sure.

Edit2: It looks like problem didn’t solved. I ended up using ugoos UR02 in IR mode. I don’t know why BT and USB have this problem.

Edit3: Purely a hardware problem. Nothing to do with coreelec. It seems i am unlucky with remote controls. I fixed rii i25 with aluminum ducktape haven’t bother yet with UR-02

It looks like the rubber button doesn’t make proper contact with button of the remote’s motherboard and adding aluminum tape helps at that. It also changes the feel of the remotes button press. It makes it as short as you want. The more tape the shorter the press. With the correct amount of tape button feels great on press and double key presses are gone.

Hello friend! Thanks for reply! I also disabled the joystick driver from system settings → input and now rii i25 seems much better. Double key presses became more rare.

I had exactly the same problem.
My solution was to use good, high-performance AAA batteries and not cheap junk.

I noticed that when the battery lost some capacity, the remote control became slower/double press to control.

Try it out and replace the batteries with really good brand batteries and then the problem should be solved.

Thanks for reply friend. The rii 25i is rechargable you cannot change batteries. I will try to charge it again though. For other controllers i use rechargable batteries, energizer brand.

It looks like i found another solution! Not sure if it has effect for 100% though. I changed the joystick driver from settings from LINUX to UDEV and it looks like it double presses keys only for a short time after i wake the ugoos from suspend.

Friends! After many hours of troubleshooting i finally (believe) found the solution! For anyone else having similar problems.

First of all i realized coreelec had nothing to do with the problem.

I booted stock android to check for firmware updates for UR02 and to see if the problem existst there. Same problem. No difference. Also, no firmware updates

Then i plugged the Rii mini i25 in my google TV to check if it has the same problem. Same problem.

So the problem was purely hardware. Those cheap remotes.

I disassembled the rii mini i25 and added a piece of aluminum foil under the keys that had the problem(page up/down). And voila! Haven’t double pressed once since i did that(Yesterday)

Thread can be closed now, i think. Or wait a couple of days to be more sure. If problem is not fixed i will update this post. If not, everything is good.
