Report about Amlogic S905X4 HK1 RBOX X4

In my situation initially 2160p25 HLG and 2160p23.976 HDR10 content was playing but not triggering HDR modes on my TV. Power cycling the TV, the AVR and the box running CoreElec solved this. I now get HDR10 and HLG content played correctly.

However in both cases the “System Info : Video : Display supported HDR Types :” reported None - so doesn’t appear to be correct.

SSH-ing in and running dispinfo when it was playing correctly, it reported SDR, ST.2084 (aka HDR10) and HLG support :

You might try another port on the TV. And ensure no AVR between device and TV! When no HDR is reported in the EDID the device can’t output HDR…

This is from my one connected through av receiver

@Portisch That’s the point. I am getting HDR now when I play HDR content in CoreElec (My TV’s OSD confirms it has switched into HDR mode when playing HLG and PQ ST.2084 content).

dispinfo output from CoreElec is reporting that my TV/AVR combo supports HDR (ST.2084 and HLG but not HDR10Plus or ‘Traditional HDR’ which is effectively unused).

However the System Information : Video section reports no HDR supported.

(Earlier in my testing I had no HDR triggering on my TV - but power cycling the TV and AVR solved that)

(I’m using a 4:2:2 enhanced HDMI input on my Sony TV that supports the high bandwidth 4:2:2 12-bit format at 2160p50/59.94 resolutions and frame rates, and have those enabled in both the TV and the AVR to avoid having to use 4:2:0 for 2160p50/59.94 HDR content)

Just want to say a huge thanks to everyone who had posted tips and advice on getting this box set up.

Bought it a few months back but only just got around to setting it up.

  • Got the ceemmc working with the NE version and then reverted to the stable NG version installed internally
  • Standard remote all working
  • VDR working
  • All addons I wanted working

Did see a post about the Virgin V6 remote - is there a remote.conf that has this set up?
Edit - Have created the config file and posted in the remotes section

And indeed transferring to internal emmc using the coreelec tool worked fine as well on my Vontar x4. Thanks to @Portisch for the incredible effort invested in these cheap-ish boxes!!

Not having to do that with my Vontar X4 4GB/32GB/GbE box so far - running CoreElec fine with reliable GigE connectivity under ‘ne’ builds and not having to reboot to Android.

I’m running from a uSD card - I haven’t installed CE to internal eMMC yet.

I was hoping it would speed up thumbnail loading somewhat, since i have thousands of them. Texture loading feels a bit snappier, but icons still take a while to load sometimes even from internal. All in all no drastic improvement from using an SD card aside from the advantage of having it available again for other purposes…

How to set it up, can you teach me?

Can you be a little more specific on what you need help setting up? Thanks

Think he wants to run it from internal memory

How to run my HK1 X4 on eMMC

I want to run on eMMC

Thank you so much! I finally got it right. Now it runs perfectly. The question is, how can I make the machine restart and enter Android by default instead of Coreelec?

https://wiki.coreelec.org/coreelec:ceemc#coreelec_ceemmc_tool

so you can already install ce on eMMC? on the website there is an annotation that on SoC S905X4 (SC2) it is unavailable

I have installed corelec in eMMC, but now I don’t know how to access Android system, and there is no restart option

Thanks for your reply, but I can’t find the instructions on how to access Android

Please read the instructions more carefully:
