Playing same movie as above. Streaming Gb from NAS box.

It would look better if I installed htop on old box.

There is some ongoing test about performance with GUI/subtitle. Try again with 20230219, it should have same “old” low CPU stress.

@pete S912 as i remember its problematic hardware. Could you stop kodi process and check load.

systemctl stop kodi

I just dont understand why s905x4 have so high load even on stopped kodi process.

Now look on my old x96 max with s905x2 on idle (20.NG). I use ondemand cause its enough, and temp are better.

I checked iostat. There are some difference.
S905x4

S905x2

After some min. on S905x4:

mmcblk0boot1 4286822.33 2093.17 0.00 9007199254740991 0

mmcblk0boot0 4286822.33 2093.17 0.00 9007199254740991 0

And still keep falling.

S905x4, idle on 20NG:

Latest nightly have something broken with network card drivers?

Done dozen tests and upload speeds did not exceed 2mbps.

Downgraded to official ne release and have full 50mbps available.

My device is hk1 Rbox(S905x4)
I can’t find the Option-“Sync playback to display” under Settings → Player → Videos in CoreELEC 19.5-Matrix or 20.0-Nexus or CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.arm-20.1-Nexus_nightly_20230221-Generic.

but it works well on kodi20 within slimbox system

How to display the “Sync playback to display” Option on CE SYSTEM?
Thank you!

It was removed a long, long time ago. It doesn’t work with Amlogic and doesn´t work on embedded systems.

but it works well on kodi20 within slimbox system

Search the forum and you’ll confirm it was removed a long, long time ago.

Could you also test x4 NG vs NE for example? Just thinking theoretically should be more closer to the 905x2 on NG.

I want the playback to speed up in 1.5x and within sound, but you said the function was removed long long ago.
now how can I do?

Apologies as I had moved the S905X4 box to production and a newer 4K TV swapping out the old S912 box.

Odd thing happened.

After days of running fine on office LCD TV moved it to production LCD TV. Worked fine yesterday.

The box was in sleep mode / shutdown when I switched to it. IE: no clock display / no video display.

I could not wake it up so powered it off and restarted it. It did not reconnect to the Gb network via DHCP. Initially It was connecting at Gb speeds to a managed Gb switch. Changed the address to a static IP and would not connect. Didn’t bother with the Wireless connections.

Replaced it last night with the old S912 (running Kodi 18.X) and will plug in the new box back to my test LCD TV (office 42" 1080) today and watch it. I have not done anything with other purchased devices and might return them due to this issue.

Adjusted the video on the new box from 4K to 1080 and the network interface came back up. Yesterday did not change the video from 4K to 1080 and could not enable the network interface. This morning changed it back to 1080 and the network interface came back up automagically. Moved it back to office LCD which is 1080 only. Video is fine. Will leave it alone for time bean.

Now thinking that it was a thermal shutdown and not sleeping as I have no power settings set.

Update looks that the nic port is toast. Starts up then disconnects. Saw temp on display go to 50 +. Odd that this is happening after running for a few days.

CoreELEC default resolution is 1080p
On initial installation edid

Maybe is best to leave as.

I have Samsung UHD 4K
Leave resolution as 1080p
When i playback 4K content
TV automatically switches to best resolution 4K

Not sure if your LG does this

Others have reported issues with sleep/suspend mode.

Maybe is best to Power down box with generic remote

Or use Powe off System
In Power options Menu

I never use sleep mode
Of course to Each his Own
Method of Madness

Happy Testing

Thank you @freddy.

Noticed lost my message typing on tablet from inside of hospital through their firewall. What a PITA that is.

Home again for a few minutes then running out.

So having a look…it is not going on the network via built in NIC.

Will enable wifi and see for time bean what is going on with it.

Did see temps over 50 C on the LED display.

Okay

Are you ON /boot from external SD/USB?

Ethernet transceiver?

Jlxxx1

Which version CoreELEC

Etc.

50c seems a little high.

I use old laptop fan on underside
For cooling

Just got in via wireless (Ruckus WAPs).

Build in NIC doesn’t appear to be working any more. Its been left on for days using built in NIC It all changed when connecting to other TV at 4K (worked for 1 day).

Build is current release.

Changed the Ethernet port address to static IP and the DHCP WLAN address changed to static IP.

Rebooted.

Gotta run out for now…did not come back to the network …IE: WLAN and LAN on reboot.

Omg i have 65-75C depends what iam doing. I dont think 50C its high  On old device max 64C.

It might be worth looking at this thread: DIY Thermal Modifications

Thanks guys. Configured a static IP and shut off WLAN. Not rebooting and will let it run for a while (24 hours).

Its been on a few hours now and not playing any media; just running Kodi and screensaver.
