SoC S5 S928X

Single system? At this stage it seems that using the ceemmc -x command only formats the original android keeping only coreelec?

Yes that’s right the box has now only coreelec installed.

Since I don’t use the Android os at all I don’t mind this.

Wow. That sounds amazing. Does everything work? (Some mod here said something about coreelec needs some android-stuf).

I was too eager. I succeded with the -x singleboot too!

I did installtointernal w/my X96 X10 as well, and CE works with DV intact. No Android OS on the internal flash. Also, I got the low-end 4GB/32GB variant, which wasn’t supposed to be S928X-J, just S928X, but as DV works, I assume all X96 X10 variants have J?

There are some performance issues w/the box, but hope these get sorted out ahead w/further CE development.

excellent job Portisch, hope to see FEL supported in S928X soon

@hdmkv A log will show the truth: coreelec:ce_support [CoreELEC Wiki]

differentiates a S928X-J device from a S928X-K:
The diff is the Dolby Audio License.

Does this mean that the S928X-J cannot decode Atmos and DTS-X in CoreELEC or does it switch to software decoding?

No, it can. Like all other CE supported SoC. Maybe they talk about encoder. Not sure…

I noticed you are using the minix u8k-ultra.How is the box in general? Is multi pcm a no go with the minix as well?In your knowledgeable experience is it a software or hardware limitation?

I do not compare or recommend the products. Just try to get best support for each individual device.

There is no limitation of any Amlogic SoC.
The main (only) difference between Amlogic SoC is only:

  • support AV1 in hardware
  • support Dolby Vision

Did I do something wrong, or is no one using a bluetooth remote control at the moment? UR01 and UR02 can be used no further than 30 centimeters from the device.

Can you please check if you can replicate these?

Which device?
Did you assemble the ext. Wifi antennas (if existent in your HW)?
They are often shared with BT…

On the AM8 the Bluetooth signal isn’t very strong.

Bluetooth connections with the AM8 still struggle

And high-res audio pass-through doesn’t work with the TV’s E-arc port, you have to plug the AM8 directly into the AVR’s port which is kind of annoying although the issue doesn’t exist on Android.

Just curious, why dont you want to have all your devices in the avr? Because of avr not supporting everything?

Isn’t Bluetooth not supported at the moment? UR1 and UR2 Bluetooth remotes cannot be matched

Looks like there are multiple issues with BT atm.
