I received my Odroid C5 and was surprised how well the HK Android Kodi works with most of my media using amc codecs playing most formats using HW. NIce being able to touch the board and have it cool to the touch these days.

I know there is sd7 support in the CE kernel so I hope we will have a dtb and other support one day.

For anyone who doesn’t already have the peripherals, that Odroid C5 is quite expensive when you factor in
-EMMC
-Power Supply
-Case

I do find Odroid stuff to last a while but not worth it for the S905x5m
Especially when you can get something like the Xiaomi Box 5 for like half the cost. The S905x5m is very power efficient, so cooling isn’t an issue here

@ zordon as I’ve linked above to a russian site basically doing a pre order for the AM9 is coming out in July, I suspect it wasn’t supposed to leak it. So Ugoos probably announce it within 4 weeks. Therefore it’s coming out within a month with the rest of the sellers too

You are always very definitive in your analysis and always end up taking back most parts oh what you say.
Hardkernel is a trusted vendor and always helped CE to the best of its capabilities. Many other cheaper vendors benefit from the support of SBC vendors like Hardkernel and others so please don’t jump to the gun immediately. A device is only as good as the support it can get.
Think a bit before shitting all over threads like a pigeon.

Vasco I’ll take on board what you said, it needed to be said. I didn’t think of support that Odroid provide.

I’ve had someone report their single-core-python score for ONN 4K Plus, didn’t realise it has the S905X5M (anyone interested can check my post about results)

so you can add that to the list of devices.
They named their higher tier last gen product ONN 4K Pro

I’m guessing they will release another product with the S905X5 called ONN 4K Pro Plus

New upcoming device from Ugoos
Ugoos x5m pro
S905X5M (S7d)

Android 14.0, not the Google Certified TV V14 version

The S6 platform (S905X5)
4X A510 cores @2.4Ghz.
64-bit mode is supported.
Kernal 5.15.170 (Android 14 AOSP)
comes with proper good remote UR02.
Type C power adapter.
Geekbench5.5.1 scores
Single-core 247
multi-core 496
The S6 platform supports H266 (VVC) but it performs worse than S5 (S928X) in single and multi-core.
And for the AM9 box
there’s no mention of Dolby Vision support!
I asked the Ugoos, and they replied"
No support for DV now, maybe in future.
it means another one! might be a pro version<
IMHO, for this point the S5 platform is better.
The AM9 is just disappointment. (Weaker SOC than S928X-j-K and no DV)

Just plain AOSP-TV boxes w/o DV support, priced at 115-150$ (no tax/tariffs included).

S905X5M, S7D support should start with CE-22, 20250703.

Current only Odroid C5 is tested.
It’s a requirement for media playback to have eMMC attached! It’s enough when the eMMC is empty and booting from uSD.
It’s because of the TEE protection: RPMB

I just installed on my ODROID C5 and I am impressed with my first impressions. I did make a typo creating nfs mount which caused the system to get into a boot loop but it works so far. Thanks for the hard work, I had the emmc from Linux installed so I didn’t even notice the requirement.

Is there any reason service.nextpvr is not included in the repo? I was able to build and install it manually.

There has been issues building some addons and this one also was not build. Should be done today with new image.

Update: Not build, build error :frowning: Next day then.

Not being familiar with S905X5M hardware options, any reason to buy a different box than ODROID C5? Seems like a no brainer on C5 given its price.

Can we also test with the X96 M200?

A post was merged into an existing topic: CPU Benchmark Addon

Just tried to install on my C5. I don’t see a dedicated build for the C5 in the no-CE22 nightlies. I see a C4 and generic, but neither would boot. Sorry, I’ve been running CoreELEC for years but am new to trying out nightly builds. Would you mind telling me which build to grab and how to get it running on the C5? Thanks

There is no build yet because there has been some build issues. Should succeed with 20250704.
