SoC S7D S905X5M

I built it from source, which did generate a dedicated Odoid-C5 specific image.

OK, thanks. Will just wait until C5 specific builds are released as per @vpeter

A post was merged into an existing topic: CPU Benchmark Addon

Latest build with C5 support is now available.

Yes ,agree somewhat,
I have S928X-J X96X10 PRO, so no need for a new box yet ???

This Hobby is addictive though!!!

What is different between S905X5
And the S905X5M

For which devices dtb files are currently available
Could there be a future CE for the X96 M200 ?

For now, nothing replaces the higher AML SOC from the current gen S928X-jk.
comparison of those two,
S905x5 VS x5m
S905x5m
loses some features & H266(VVC) decoding capability.
Features like, No support for USB3/PCIe.
4GB ram is the maximum can be configured with the X5M SOC.
It utilises weaker A55 cores, the A510 is much closer to A73 cortex and behind A76.
I can see that later the S905x5 is the highest AML SOC will get the big G certs with DV/Audio licenses and that’s where it gets its strong value and selling point. The vanilla variant with higher price tag is kind of meh

Currently Hardkernel ODROID-C5, others will probably follow when devices will be available.

Anybody had any luck with a X88 PRO X5M box?

I’m using the generic image and have tried all 4 of the s7d dtb files. I’ve tried both USB sticks and SD Cards but I just can’t get CoreELEC to start the install.

I’ve tried all methods, reset button, Android terminal reboot update, adb reboot update, even the Reboot to CoreELEC app.

All I can ever get it to do is bring up the Android recovery menu.

We’re waiting on some samples from vendors that launched the device but nothing came through yet. It’s easy to get support, contact your vendor and ask them to reach us at team@coreelec.org

I’d like to ask some vendors by dropping an email, would you be able to list what boxes you see vendors shipping samples to you already, then the vendors or boxes that are not in the list, we can send emails.

All vendors already had contact with CE team in the past. I would assume they would reach again to CE team when new devices are made to support them easily and faster. But seems this is just my point of view

For example: at least they could send us the changes in their DTB. But instead decompiled DTS needs to be compared to find the missing pieces. And when not having device to directly test: I just pass this such work.

Is Dolby Vision supported with Odroid C5 ?
I would like to replace my Odroid C4 with something that supports DV

While the S905X5M chip does have the option for DV I don’t think the C5 has the necessary license and only supports HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG

I didn’t know none business people buy stuff from Alibaba, the prices are cheaper than AliExpress, I’ve listed the X88 PRO X5M above for $28.50

maybe that’s a price for new members? the X88 is top 12 in set top boxes sold

here is a list

also got reviews for the X88 PRO X5M

crazyturk if your planning on dual booting ,slimbox has a fireware out for this

also I think you’ll need to add better heatsink in that box, it’s going to overheat and crash as reported in reddit

I noticed some some work on the bl301 for the C5. In the future will it be able to wake the bootloader by IR like a few other CE devices. I know some devices are programmable and some are hardcoded but it is a feature I like.
