No, I’m just saying that slimBOXtv firmware doesn’t interfere with its installation, once it gets supported by CoreELEC.
Thanks!
@vpeter I have a m96 m200 so I build CE yesterday because of the new m96 m300 support but it didn’t load past the recovery screen. It might not be supported, (I hoped they were similar enough) but is there a trick to get the m300 running? I see slimbox from the m200 doesn’t use a normal image. X96 M200 — slimBOXtv
X96 M200 and X96 M300 are very similar and I think both should be supported.
But currently we are finishing new recovery method which will allow booting this device (and probably others too). That’s why your device is still in the dark
Soon
The new install method by recovery.img
is now available with last nightly 20250810.
Only change for users is need to release the reset button after a black screen and reboot when the vendor logo appears again. Then on next reboot CE should start.
Just want to report that my X88 Pro X5M works using s7d_s905x5m_x96_m300.dtb. Boots from SD, 1G ethernet works, Wifi doesn’t.
Thanks a lot for your work!
Better use the generic DTB:
s7d_s905x5m_4g_1gbit.dtb
For WiFi:
How’d you get it too work, I’m still having no luck with my X88 Pro X5M box.
Stupid question: X88 Pro X5M does support DV right? In many AliExpress listings, only HDR & HDR10+ are mentioned. Thanks.
No it doesn’t support DV.
I think the only S905X5M box that supports DV is the Xiaomi Box S 3rd Gen, but whether it will also support CoreELEC is unknown.
Thanks CE team. I used adb reboot update and didn’t have to to hit any reset pin.
However on my x96 m200 I got no network plus there is a message somethink like Update Android Firmware 0.0 found. Installing USB ethernet I got this log
https://paste.coreelec.org/SigmaShocking
For X96 M200 use dtb for M300 - those are similar devices.
Got the X88 pro X5M 2/16 and no luck for booting CE-NO until now.
Tried
s7d_s905x5m_2g.dtb
s7d_s905x5m_2g_1gbit.dtb
s7d_s905x5m_x96_m300.dtb
Each of them failed to boot up; the first two restarted Android and the third froze.
I started them up from Android using adb reboot update, as I didn’t really understand the other method.
The solution for non-booting device is to attach serial console to see what is going on.
That’s why we insist on getting devices in hand. Without device it’s a job for one user if you really want to get it used.
Can you say me what I need to order to help you log things from the serial console?
The x88 pro x5m will be a bestseller in terms of value for money.
also, I extracted the DTB from android using dd if=/dev/dtb
If you need it I can attach the file somewhere on the forum.
From log dt id
s7d_S905x5m_4g_1gbit.
I see you opted for the 4 and 32 gig version.
This Hobby is so addictive
Lol
I do not need another Box,but the price is so low, right now at early stage ???
What is different between M200 and M300?CPU is common Chipset/wifi/etc
Thanks @vpeter, not sure why I didn’t try that before posting, good now Is the VFD supposed to be working?
With correct config yes. Maybe @Portisch can share it (I didn’t test it yet … and this is my first device with it …)
@freddy why do you think I only have 32GB? /data on Android is 54GB but it isn’t mounted by CE
/dev/block/dm-50 54G 2.4G 52G 5% /data
Any I like the C5 so far as noted above and and very limited testing seems to be the same This runs at 51C and 2 watts so pretty nice.
