(Solved) Planet Earth II 4k

It could be something that @cdu13a should take a look at.

To me it seems that you’re trying to force feed equipment with HDMI 1.4, that doesn’t support HDR, a HDMI 2.0 signal. The fact it works at all is surprising. I guess that some HDMI 1.4 displays are capable of 4K@50/60 with 4:2:0 chroma.

I reset all back to default and Planet Earth plays.

I go to a 4k movie and no display only sound.

These is with the white list cleared out and all flags for 4k set as default. HDR-SDR 4.2.2 etc…

I rebooted after each setting.

Added all resolutions to whitelist and neither 4k movie or tv show displays only sound.

I don’t think I have anything more to add to what I’ve said in the post above.
You should probably enable force 8-bit, because your equipment can’t handle the bandwidth requirements of HDR and 10-bit at 4K.

The only item that would not support 10-bit 4 k would if anything be a bad hdmi cable from N2 to avr. The rest is 4k certified,.

Only item questionable would be this

So I will replace that cable and see if it will help.

Not all HDMI ports are created equally. Some HDMI ports on a HDMI 2.0 device maybe 1.4 only.
Check your manual. Also check your settings since some devices will configure an HDMI 2.0 port as 1.4 by default for compatibility with older devices, and this needs to be changed in settings. Unfortunately each manufacture calls the settings something different. :frowning:

Which input is the N2 on and which output is your display attached to on your AVR?

Is your display HDMI 1.4 or 2.0? Same goes for its HDMI ports as with the AVR.
Which input is the AVR plugged into on the Display and is that input properly configured?

As long as the HDMI sink is HDMI 1.4 or configured that way, or any device between initial signal source and display you won’t be able to display a 4k 10bit signal.

Projector (from manual)
Terminal Inputs:

  • HDMI® x 1 (HDCP 2.2) <------------fiber hdmi in here
  • HDMI x 1 (HDCP 1.4)
    AVR (From Manual)
Connect HDMI 1-2 OUT to HDTVs or projectors with HDMI input.
HDMI 1 OUT supports 4K@60 4:4:4 and HDCP 2.2 compliant <-------Fiber HDMI out here.
Both HDMI output ports display simultaneously the same audio/video
    source.

So I guess I will limit the output in the N2 to 8bit and 4.2.2 inorder to get the 4k to work and turn tone mapping off.
And here I have the Minix once again and it is playing 10-bit
