Tanix TX3 lost ethernet

I was running Coreelec 21.3 on a Tanix TX3 (s905x3 4gb ram) for a long time.

I decided to test drive Coreelec-NO-Piers Alpha2 so i installed it, and i completely lost networking (both wireless and wired, so NO to piers for now.

I reverted back to 21.3, and all seamed ok apart from missing ethernet. I did a hard reset but again no ethernet.

Any clues? Is it a dtb issue?

I can’t remember if i had to do something special on first install a long time ago…

If eth was ok before in v21, it might be a hardware defect

Looking for a solution, i looked in the device trees folder packed inside the update files in both V21 and V22.

i noticed that there are two different dtb’s for my box. One for 100mbit ethernet, and one for 1000mbit. My box is 1000mbit for certain, but perhaps the update routine can’t distinguish that, and flashed the 100mbit dtb.

I just have to find out how to replace the flashed dtb.

You are booting CoreELEC from external media?micro SD card/USB Drive?

Remove from Tanix Box ,and use Windows explorer, open up CoreELEC, delete the dtb .img file,

Then move to Device Tree Folder ,and select the 1000mb blob, rename to dtb.img

Then boot CoreELEC

On a side note I have the Tanix Tx5 Plus Deluxe, same SoC S905X3 no issues with NG,NE,NO

It was a dtb problem. I replaced the dtb and ethernet was back.

Problem solved.
