I have been trying to extract a Device Tree for my Z30 Pro so I can install CoreElec.
Z30 Specs: Amlogic S928x-K Arm Cortex A76 Cortex A55 (Penta - Core) Arm Mali G57 Mc2
Where is the Device Tree in >Z30-PRO_R_v1.3.05_to_v1.3.05_G_202601302336_diff-package; the Z30’s Firmware Update.I broke the firmware down and extracted the “Payload.bin” thinking this is where Zidoo would put the device tree so I went to work.
I tried: Binwalk, WSL, and volatility3-win-exes-2.28.0 I got NOTHING > Scraps and fragments after a few days work. It seems Zidoo uses Realtec hardware to assemble the files during the update. (I think) based on what I saw Zidoo will not let you extract the needed Device Tree file so you cannot use CoreElec.
If I didn’t use the proper software or my conclusions are wrong Please tell me and point me in the right direction. Thank you for your Time.
greetings
i did similar work for a Zidoo Z9X Pro here (same SoC/brand)
i never did get anything working for coreelec on it but it’s partially due to lack of interest and/or motivation due to no DV FEL on S928X
if there’s anything else i can provide i will but i will tell you if you’re not looking to create your own dtb then a dtb from the device itself will not boot coreelec
Thank you for your time and response. I did read your post first but there didn’t seem to be any conclusions.
It would appear that Zidoo and CoreElec are totally incompatible. It took me a long time and a lot of searching. But now I have an answer that will maybe help other trying to get CoreElec into a Zidoo Box. Would’ve been nice if someone else had made this post for me to read.
Suggestion CoreElec post something about compatibility
