Hi there,
I’m wondering if anyone can help me out with not getting a signal all sudden. Weird thing is it’s still letting me bring up CoreELEC controls on my X90L TV. But the problem is I don’t see the CoreELEC logo screen load anymore and just tells me no hdmi signal or video. Also the Ugoos just shows a red LED. I’ve tried different HDMI and TV’s and they all can’t pick up a signal. Please help
Does Android work normally?
Unfortunately there is no video signal so I cannot switch to android at all. All i can see on any tv or monitor ive tried is no signal through hdmi. What is weird is on my smart tv it shows the output as coreelec and i can bring up the power and menu controls but i cant see the video output. I can also see my wifi even lan to the am6b. I dont believe ive enabled ssh so i can ssh onto it.
Just take out uSD card or USB stick with CoreElec, and it will boot to Android. The led on AM6B+ will then turn green. When running CE it’s always red.
Or are you running CE from eMMC?
Yes I’m running CE from eMMC so no luck doing that. It has dual boot but it’s useless without the video output to see. Is there an original image to flash everything back to original ugoos android firmware?
Can’t you make an installation uSD card / USB stick with CE and try installing it, via reset button, just to see if you get HDMI signal?
Yeah unfortunately that didn’t work either, maybe the hdmi port just doesn’t work anymore?
Yes, it looks like it’s some hardware problem…
On my AM6B+ the HDMI port is also very sensitive. HDMI cable that I use is pretty stiff, and if I move the box a little, like when connecting USB stick, it looses HDMI signal for a fraction of a second. It does always come back, but it’s not something I had with any other box, and had quite some including cheap Chinees ones. Not happy about it…
Yeah true I’ve had hdmi issues with another tv box but it was more so the power connector that was loose and never had any hdmi issues. I guess if theres no other way to hard reset the device I’ll have to look into getting another one which isn’t exactly cheap.
Concerning HDMI port on my AM6B+ I discovered that some HDMI cable connectors have slightly longer part that sticks into the box’s port. I’m using the longest one I have, that slides in completely.
Maybe, before you give up, try cleaning AM6B+ HDMI port with quality contact cleaning spray; apply spray in the port and plugin/out HDMI cable several times to clean all 19 pins. Dry the liquid completely before powering it after cleaning!
Hmm thanks for the tip maybe ill try that before giving up. I was also thinking of buying a OTG USB-A to USB-A cable to see if i can connect to my computer and firmware upgrade/reinstall that way to see if itll work could only find one of those cables on amazon. Will try cleaning hdmi port first though cheers.
With all things you unsuccessfully tried, I don’t think it’s a software/firmware problem, but good luck trying all possibilities. It’s not a cheap device to just bin it.
You can make your own USB -A to USB-A cable yourself in a pinch. I made one years ago and still use it occasionally. All you need is to connect 4 wires after you strip the cord and separate the individual conductors.
I have an OTA firmware, but NOT an img firmware. Perhaps Ugoos can send you that firmware.
Edit: Have you tried to access the Android recovery menu?? Most devices just depress the “reset” button and hold it as you power on your device.
If you can get into that menu, that bypasses the operation system. If the menu does NOT show up, then you defiantly have a hardware issue.
Oh that’s interesting thanks for that, I will definitely do try that out since I have 1 million other usb to usb b and such laying around save me a few bucks. Yeah I have the latest img file for am6b+ but I want to also try using OTA firmware with their software to burn in first. I’ll also try AV OUT cable to see if that outputs a signal to tv have to get one of those also. I really hope its not hardware. I’ve read somewhere android tv boxes for some reason very rare will switch the resolution so it’s out of range? I’ll update if I can get av out to work.
Thanks mate good looking out. I’ll update after I’ve tried all possibilities.
I have run into that issue on the Ugoos AM6B+ when I use a specific input on my Yamaha AVR. “No input” showing on the screen.
I have a Vizio 4k TV and when I get NO signal, I have to go into the TV settings, and toggle the HDMI mode. My choices are “auto”, “standard” and “compatibility”.
I somewhat solved that issue by moving the HDMI cable to a different HDMI port on my Yamaha receiver. I still get the “no signal” occasionally even with a different input on my AVR. I have gotten used to going into the TV settings and toggling that HDMI setting.
Ah I see, I have tried plugging into soundbar and tv directly also every single port and have changed the hdmi input settings also but no dice. So just a little update, I found a really old AV Cable 3.5mm Jack to 3 RCA to plug into ugoos am6b av out port. Now the weird part is i have 3 tvs with RCA ports and only one of them show static… I then moved the yellow and white cables to component Y/Pr/Pb ports and wallah! i have picture!!! Not sure if the old RCA cable wasn’t compatible with video 1 input on the tv or just my box might be rooted but I already reflashed the firmware and everything back to latest android ugoos. I did it by getting into recovery and install from USB with OTA.
So now I still can’t get HDMI to work it’s just black screen. The only way I can get picture is with the AV Cable into component Y/Video and Pb or Pr. So this tells me my box isn’t broken everything but the hdmi port isn’t working or resolution is out of range. WIFI and remote works btw.
To try out HDMI link, boot the box into recovery. Recovery screen is in resolution that all TV/Monitors support, and if then you have no HDMI signal, bad luck…
Just to make sure when you say boot into recovery, do you mean hold the recovery button for certain amount of time till android recovery screen pops up? If so I think I’m shit out of luck now. Damnit. Slightly good news is the guys I bought the device from have said they are willing to repair the HDMI link or whatever is the issue for free but I have to pay for shipping which is in China… definitely won’t be seeing my device for a while I’m guessing.
Before I send it off you think I should wipe everything so I don’t have my google signed in etc.?
