Ugoos AM9 - SoC S6 S905X5

when i reboot, i usually always end up in android and then have to use boot to coreelec. is this a ugoos problem or something with CE?
I dont understand why the vendor does it not like “if sdcard is inserted, boot that first, then continue” but seems like somehow “randomly throw the dice and boot whatever you want” 0o

I did see this only with 2.0.4 and USB.
With 2.0.5 and uSD it reboot normal.

But for media playback is recommended to use below 2.x anyway.

2.0.5 unfortunately does not work for me because then i can not play any movie.

What should we do when users are not reading the forum, even in one post distance only…

dont understand what you try to say to me. i am not native english speaker. i am running 1.x for movie playback. so when you say booting with 2.x works like a charm, thats nice for you. but that probably does not help people that use CE as media system. coz a media system that does not play back movies (or any video out) is … not really a media system.

No, fw version 2.0.5 DOESN’T do any playback. And this fact was written multiple times. Is is so hard to read some posts back.

Stay with the original Ugoos fw, don’t update to anything! Everything has been working fine on AM9 since 26/12 CE nightly; thanks to the developers!

i know that, thats why i posted a couple of days ago a way how to go back from fw 2.x to 1.x. but that does not solve the problem with booting into android after a reboot from CE. and when someone says “works for me with fw 2.x” than thats fine for him, but does probably help nobody that wants to watch movies.

Fw 1.x.x worked fine for me too. Why it doesn’t work for you it is hard to say. Because there are different issues things to solve in CE this is just one more without ETA.

I was facing the same issue…
Sequence:

  • fully working CoreELEC in AM9 with firmware 1.x.
  • reboot performed in CoreELEC always cause boot to CoreELEC as expected
  • firmware upgrade in Android from 1.x to 2.x → result is: you can’t play videos in CoreELEC
  • firmware downgrade in Android from 2.x to 1.x → result is you can again play videos in CoreELEC but… now when CoreELEC reboot is initiated it reboot to Android instead of to CoreELEC. And the worst part is: it reboot sometimes to Android, sometimes to CoreELEC.
  • solution for me was to flash completely empty CoreELEC and configure it from scratch without restoring backup and then of course use Reboot_to_CoreELEC_5.0.apk in Android to configure reboot.

Could you share the steps you did to downgrade the firmware from 2.x to 1.x?

@BTamas

Have you been able to use Bluetooth remote?

I was successful in rolling back my AM9 firmware, installed the latest nightly build. Wow for the first time since receiving this unit I was able to play all videos with different surround formats without any audio sync issues.

To the hard working team behind this build, I thank you :folded_hands:, I really appreciate your time and effort and patience with us in this forum.

u need to go into the settings, somewhere there is a reset to 1.x option

see Ugoos AM9 - SoC S6 S905X5 - #276 by tete

Yes, since 12.26 nightly everything ok..! :wink:

Interesting, I installed the 12.26 nightly then it updated to the 12.28 nightly. When I go to Bluetooth and pair the UR02 it successfully :star: the connection, then everything crashes and restarts.

I did follow the wiki Ugoos setup procedure.

Use remote in IR mode until BT works more reliable.

Thanks vpeter, I wasn’t sure if it was just me missing something during setup.

I have problem with UR-02 via Bluetooth too.

Pairing and connect succesful, but after few working clicks kodi revert to IR Remote.

I don’t know which hwdb to use. Tried Hassan config files.

PS. Used nightly 12.31

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for taking the time to explain your experience with the build process, it’s genuinely helpful.

@rabaraf
For me the nightly from 20251223 has been working normally, no crashes observed so far. As mentioned in my previous comment my AM9 is running Android firmware 1.7.11-build_10510, so that might be part of the hardware/firmware mix that changes behaviour between setups.

@Wildpig954
On my side, I’m not experiencing any audio sync issues with CoreELEC on the AM9. I haven’t installed Kodi on Android because I simply don’t need it there, my usage is fully focused on CoreELEC. At the moment I’m mainly waiting to replace my older TV with a newer model that properly supports HDMI-CEC, so it can power the AM9 on and off automatically, which should also help with my current startup workflow. Hopefully, by then, there will be no need to rely on Reboot_to_CoreELEC anymore and booting directly from the uSD card will be possible.

I’ll keep following this thread and will share any progress or findings when I can, even though I don’t have a lot of free time right now.

Thanks again for your input, it’s much appreciated.
