Specs say Amlogic S905x5M-K ARM Cortex-A55 CPU

It was also released in late 2024 so not really new.

Next time when you do copy/paste of the specification do it correctly: S905X5M is not the same as S905X5.

Is there any information about what’s different with the SK4 Pro vs SK4? Maybe it will use LPDDR5? But would that even matter, or would the extra performance be masked by some other bottleneck in the SOC.

You can see same things we do, boxes are identical.

SK4 Widevine L3, Support Dolby Audio, Dolby Vision.

SK4 Pro Widevine L1, Support Dolby Audio, Dolby Vision, DTS

Pro is green, Non pro purple *I think that’s purple

I’m giving Ugoos the benefit of the doubt that there is some significant upgrade, that the specs were copied from the SK4 and not 100% accurate. And that maybe Ugoos made an announcement somewhere else.

I don’t think Widevine L1 vs L3 matters much on an non-certified box. And -J vs -K makes little difference either.

If that’s true and they did copy the specs then they also copied the specs to the printed boxes and the boxes all have misprints.

Just got this box and did initial testing…

The good:

  • DV FEL! Yay :raising_hands:! Thanks to CE devs for this
  • Solid Wi-Fi 6 performance. Streamed 400Mbps Jellyfish clip perfectly
  • HD/object-based audio passthrough
  • Pretty snappy box (better than expected), w/its 4GB RAM helping. Wondering if AM9 Pro is significantly better for CE use?!
  • The cheaper SK4 (non-Pro) should be just as good, considering almost exact specs—just -K SoC vs. -J for non-Pro

The not so good:

  • Gigabit ethernet adapters (tried 3 different types) not recognized using USB C nor USB 2.0 ports
  • Included 100M LAN performance is poor, so using Wi-Fi is a must for local streaming
  • Box is a bit buggy w/remote control responsiveness
  • On Android side, more sluggish performance, and USB keyboard sometimes doesn’t work

Found a compatible USB Ethernet hub! Yay! Looks like an actual USB C one is needed.

what’s the lan performance limited by, in your opinion, is that your network, the interface, or the device?

I’d re-try the ethernet adapter that didn’t work for you the other day, the realtek r8152 ethernet module was added in the 20250513 nightly. That module covers a lot of USB ethernet adapters.

Hello,CE22 works as expected on Ugoos SK4 Pro s905x5m-K,performance is about the same, maybe 1% faster than SK4 s905x5m-J,HDCP 2.3 and Widevine L1 are present, regular SK4 doesn’t have license on board.

Cool news, so basically - suggesting to ditch the SK4

I bought SK4 Pro when regular SK4 would’ve been just as good for le$$.

Ugoos SK4 Pro

The Axagon type c gigabit Ethernet adapter worked fine,I got somewhere around 350/350Mbps,since both USB ports are 2.0. The only issue I got and I am sure it would be fixed in next update,I was unable to play hdr10+ adaptive on my tv,it was output as HDR,so yeah,it would be fixed soon.

Also here is the list of hardware decoders support by this TV box, green means it’s hardware decoder, blue is software, but any CPU nowadays can handle mp3 with software decoder,so no problems here.

Fel works fine too:
