Unable to boot from a second CoreELEC USB flash drive on the same device

Hi,

I have bought a Homatics Box R 4K Plus and succesfully booted into CoreELEC via USB flash drive. As I was just testing out the whole process I now want to repeat the process with a different USB flash drive that is much smaller in physical size.

So I did exactly the same as with the first USB flash drive, wrote the image, copied and renamed the dtb file, used the reset button method. Several times actually.

But every time instead of booting into CoreELEC it says “Upgrading…” (with an image of the Android robot) for a while and then changes to the Android Recovery menu with “no command” at the bottom.

I can still boot into Android when I remove the USB stick, I also can still boot into CoreELEC with the first USB flash drive.

I then tried a third USB flash drive, it behaves exactly the same as the second one.

I have tried Restore by Boot script but that didn’t help with booting from the second USB flash drive.

Any clues on what is happening?

Reset button is needed only once. Then you can freely use different usb sticks.

Thanks for the reply.

So now I tried booting from the first USB drive, which still works. Then I tried the same with the second USB drive which contains a fresh image and a copied dtb.img. This shows the Homatics boot image for quite a while and then just boots into Android.

I have tried CE-NG and CE-NE images, several times.

Use usb2.0 plug on Homatics R4. It does not like the usb3.0 port. This issue does not happen with the Dune version.

Thanks. I had tried the USB 2.0 port already, also not working.

But I borrowed some more sticks and those work instantly. So I guess I had bad luck with my two USB drives that both did not work.

Thanks for the quick support.
