UPnP not working anymore

Since the last two nightly updates (NO) the network location connection does not work (Upnp) on either AM8 or AM9 Ugoos

I have Ugoos AM9, am using wired connection, no problems here. But I think the wireless connection keeps enabling itself, when I specifically set to disable, happy to confirm after installing today’s nightly in a few hours.

It doesn’t see my hard drive connected to the router via UPNP; I can get to the movies folder - nothing from there! NG, NE works fine on other boxes; NO doesn’t work on 2 boxes!

Wired or wireless?

I have a NAS I can access all files on that? My router doesn’t has USB to be able to test. From my Windows 11 pc I can access the AN9 file system and connect putty for SSH stuff

I have 4 boxes in operation, AM8 wired, AM9 wifi - the other two are NG and NE CE, everything is fine there!

I cannot comment on the AM8. Maybe the AM9 WIFI is the issue?

I don’t think there’s a wired connection to the storage via UPnP!

I’ve tried many things, but there is no UPnP access under CE NO!

Is UPnP even used these days?

You need to do research on this by yourself as I know nobody anymore have such setup running anymore. Maybe it just got removed…

Yes, they use it, and I use it too - so the statement “nobody” is incorrect! If they had removed it, then the UPnP configuration options would not be available under CE among the services; and you can see the mounted hard drive, but not the shared directories!

I tried several years ago to convince team-kodi to deprecate upnp/dlna because users never seem to know how insecure it is plus it only works when it works.

If it works don’t touch it - if it doesn’t work use something modern.

They were not keen on the idea.

I wouldn’t be enthusiastic either, I like it - it works perfectly fine on my internal network at home!

Then your issue is what?

You can’t access upnp from your public IP at another location over the open internet?

Yees..,I see you had a hard time recognizing the fact that it DOES NOT work under NO CE!

Then do some analysis what is wrong and how to fix. If some feature is not widely used it just stay behind to fix (if ever).

Considering that it is not widely used - it is a fairly widely offered option in the CE settings..! Then it should work!

In that case, we could remove it if it is not functioning as intended. However, it would be helpful to also provide a solution for resolving the issue.

And it’s not part of CE, it’s Kodi itself!

I think we can close this until a solution will come up.
