Video playback of AVC file blacks out intermittently

I upgraded to 20.1 ng on a S905X3 box and am trying to play a new 720p .mp4 file and the playback goes to black every now and then for this file while other files at a similar resolution play fine. Is this to be expected for an AVC file? CPU utilization seems to not be excessive.

FWIW, VLC on my laptop plays it fine.
