Whitelist vs disp_cap

Hello all,

I presently have /storage/.kodi/userdata/disp_cap file that I believe should contain all the display resolutions and fps that my Sony TV supports.

Many say you should enable all the resolutions that your TV supports. But does not disp_cap have all that information.

Can someone please enlighten me?

TIA

Whitelist is intended for other use. It tells Kodi that it should passthrogh all listed video resolutions directly to output, without doing anythig to them; similar to audio passthrough for chosen audio formats.
If you want Kodi to do something to a certain resolution, then you don’t put that resolution into the whitelist.
The whitelist works only for files that ecsactly match resolution and frame rate that are listed in it.
