I:ve been testing with modified EDIDs.
It partially works since CoreELEC shows DV options. However it doesn:t change to HDR when playing DV content, just send SDR to TV when playing.SDR or DV. Only sends HDR when content is HDR but not DV
BD ISO’s with menus do not work, or if they do, there are issues. Sluggish nav, freezing, long delay before showing menus, then disappearing. Debug log here.

Don’t believe so. All I can share is a fact: Between all the Android, OSMC, LE and CE boxes I have, which is a dozen+, no one does handle 2D & 3D BD ISO’s menus well and reliably. For me; can’t speak for others. Didn’t test w/official NG 21.3, nor other builds out there. Did test w/official nightly NO builds on Xiaomi 3rd gen and Ugoos SK4 Pro boxes.
I personally don’t care for menus, and prefer MKV’s and having movies play directly. And my sample test size is only 6-7 2D and 3D ISO’s. But, know some (maybe more) users do care about menus, and there are some BD’s/UHD’s that really need, benefit from them. Namely compilation type discs, and those w/lots of playlists/titles.
You did not test any official builds and than you are sure nothing do work 
So the fact is not “not working”. It’s just “not tested”!
When some other, not supported forks, do such great work why we don’t see some upstream fixes? Maybe because we know how hard it got to pass by TK when the code change do include parts for no interests with them!?
Tested w/official for NO on Xiaomi and SK4 Pro. Let me test BD ISO’s w/official NG 21.3 and report back. Or can test w/NE if that’s preferred. Or, as both are EOL right, can test w/latest NO nightly on Cube2/AM6B+ and RockTek G2.

i know this is common knowledge for old coreelec pioneers, but for new owner of the tv box will see this first - and it took me several hours to find that out. (since it is also not mentioned in the linked thread)
every time i try to connect to wifi - the tv gets and stays complete black. is this know behavior?
i read the wifi is bad, but i though only in the sense its slow - not that it crashes the whole box.

I got my Mi Box 3rd Gen last week, so the August 26 nightly was my first CoreELEC installation.
I’m using Wi-Fi. I noticed that accessing a Samba share on my local network using a .local hostname could take around 5 seconds. I did a few tests (iw dev, iperf3, ping, etc.) and the Wi-Fi connection itself seemed fine. The delay was specifically with name resolution. When I use the IP address directly, I don’t have this problem.
getent hosts <hostname>.local also showed the same ~5 second delay.
I fixed it by changing mdns_minimal to mdns4_minimal in nsswitch.conf and using an autostart.sh bind mount. After that, name resolution was down to about 0.14s.
The relevant line in my nsswitch.conf is:
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns
And my autostart.sh contains:
#!/bin/sh
mount --bind /storage/.config/nsswitch.conf /etc/nsswitch.conf
Then I updated to the August 28 nightly. The two files were still there:
/storage/.config/nsswitch.conf
/storage/.config/autostart.sh
But after the update, the Wi-Fi interfaces wlan0, ap0 and p2p0 were no longer showing up in CoreELEC’s network configuration.
I then reinstalled the August 28 nightly from scratch, and Wi-Fi came back, but it still seems quite unstable. When I try to connect to Wi-Fi and enter the password, I sometimes get a black screen for a few seconds. Sometimes it works and Wi-Fi connects, and sometimes it doesn’t.
Has anyone else noticed slow .local name resolution over Wi-Fi, especially when accessing local resources?

Would it make sense to use mdns4_minimal by default instead of mdns_minimal? It completely fixed the name resolution issue for me.

EDIT : I can confirm that the delay due to domain resolution exists also with Ethernet, not only with WIFI.
I plugged an usb/ethernet hub to the box, and have the same issue e.g. 4 - 5 second delay, with domain resolution with both Ethernet and WIFI
I have the same issue. For a few BDMV backups I tried menus kinda work but are broken, e.g. the menu loads but the controls work only for a few seconds, after that they freeze and I have to wait until the menu track ends and resets itself, only then the controls starts to work again for a brief moment. Also another menu took forever to load and kinda messed up the system, I could not play any other movie, only after a minute or two it unlocked itself (maybe some timeout or again the menu track ended?). Also unrelated to menus but sometimes I had the system freeze and reboot (but only when trying to be “too quick” with my remote, not that big of a deal).
Anyway, big thanks to the devs for enabling this, a more budget way to enjoy your library! Playing movies works great even in nightly beta versions.
Does anybody have issues playing Dual Layer FEL titles in an MP4 container?
I’m experiencing stuttering during playback of Dual Layer FEL MP4 files. MKV FEL titles play fine.
