I would ask everyone in this thread to remember that the CoreELEC developers are all volunteers with limited time. There are far more important issues to tackle than this. If you wish to solve this problem, create a patch. Otherwise, the developers are aware of the issue and will solve it if/when they have time.
I took a look into it and it’s not trivial to solve.
So I recommend to not use this function at all for 4k.
Maybe it will be fixed in 5.4 or 5.15 kernel but 4.9 is EOL.
To be honest, I never bothered to explore the details, so don’t know if it’s true 4k or upscaled 1080p. I suspect it’s the latter since the skin is done in 1080p resolution…
hi experts I somehow managed to have only the top tenth of the screen visible with dv files. rest black. thought I read that here somewhere but cannot find it. is there a way back to full-screen
the only thing I changed was
- disable GUI what was the name… real 4k GUI!
- 23.9hz
- 444 10 bit, I thought that’s the preferred setting with 23.9hz…
I changed all back but screen is still broken
thanks!!
whoever moved my question. THANKS! 4k GUI it is…
but how can I fix it? the checkbox is not checked anymore and I rebooted already three times
Interesting, I use 4K GUI (set to 3840x2160 resolution) , GUI Scaling box unchecked, and have full screen DV playback.
I just wander why so many people have this partly black screen effect? My AM6b+ is connected directly to my LG G2 with a premium quality HDMI cable, and I don’t use Whitelist. CE (latest nightly) is running from an uSD card, and I also regularly use Android on this box…
Have you tried unplugging the box?
that’s 100% my setup.
until everything is set with the box I’m not using it via avr.
I also have a certified 48gig hdmi cable,
latest nightly on uSD (yesterday there was an auto update),
also no white list
no, not unplugged, only 5 reboots. will try now
So now I’m lost.
without the checked GUI box and 1980p I’m only seeing 1/4 of the screen and I don’t know how to find the settings in the GUI
enable GUI scaling means NOT checking the box
correct?
I have a big black bar on top and 1/4 of the dv movie and after leaving the movie the GUI is also 1/4
The setting is “Disable GUI scaling” not Enable…
Read the explanation for this setting at the bottom of the screen
thanks yes I saw that I was answering another post from the top bit forgot to quote. he wrote it’s working with enabling GUI scaling, therefore I don’t check the box. because checking it deactivates the scaling…
anyway I tried every possible combination at least 5 times. I’m to old for that… (I’m at least leathel weapon 4 Danny glover age… )
now I have
- resetted the whole video section.
- changed the hdmi port on the tv
- unplugged
- rebooted 3 times
still this quarter Pic here.
and yes it’s a uhd lg oled deep color on and a certified 48gig hdmi cable.
what the hell did I do yesterday
Unfortunately you might just have to do a reinstall. I had this same bug after I just got my amb6+ and was playing around with the gui settings. Not matter what I changed, DV content stayed at playing only 1/4 of the content. Just reinstalled and left the gui settings alone and everything’s been perfect since.
That did it for me, too. Had to do a reinstall.
oh THANKS! that’s at least something, I’M NOT ALONE!!
reinstall means everything new on the SD card. so writing the image on it?
oh my I was stumbling with my emby connect and customizing at least 6h
but I will challenge it! do you think I can backup kodi and import that later or will it destroy it again?
correction. 10h. all the repositories…
Lesson learned, next time when you have all in working order do a full backup, before plying around and experimenting with settings
good thinking! and I’m sure 2nd time I’m faster. emby lib already connected.
one question. do I have to leave the GUI with 1980 and 60hz? I cannot find the setting for auto switch to original frame rate or something like this so maybe I have to set the GUI to 23.9?
thanks!
Leave it 1080p if you want your SD content to be upscaled by your TV. Otherwise you can set it to 4K. Hz will return to 60 after you’ve watched something with default settings.
I think I will be very brave and set it to 4k. Hopefully nothing crashes again …
I just deactivated Bluetooth and thought I crashed it… crossing fingers…
