Amlogic-NO discussion

Not true.

Again not true. While technically you should define every resolution in the skins addon.xml it’s not actually needed, that line only tells the skin where to look for the XML files for a given resolution, if the 4K resolution line is missing and the GUI is set to 4K then the skin will just use which ever one has the default tag set. The skin will still render at the GUI resolution as all resolution paths are set to the same XML folder.

This can easily been seen just by look at how sharp text is rendered between 1080p and 4K resolutions.

Skin:- Confluence ZEITGEIST
No 4K resolution set in addon.xml

Sample of this h264 media is need.

About the 4k GUI: on old devices (before S905X5M, S7D) are some code lines missing. Should be solved in next nightly.

The type of media makes no difference h264,x265 fire it up then pause the playback it will kernel panic just sitting there.

I turned that N2+ back on thismorning just to see when it happens with nothing playing

I completely respect your opinion here but this is an argument I’ve already had many times on the Kodi forum.

While I may be mixing up terminology the effect of changing the GUI resolution does not increase the skin resolution.

The easiest way to see this effect is to change the addon.xml in Estuary to Only have a 4K resolution, everything is much smaller, more items on screen, font sizes shrink.

If you then load an addon which has a full screen window, within Kodi’s code the gui window for an addon is capped at 1080p, when it renders the “full screen” window from the addon it will only appear in the center on the window and not full screen.

I can put together some screenshots and we can have a tete a tete on the Kodi forum if you really would like to.

My point here in this thread for this context is since 4K gui resolution isn’t actually improving anything then it’s better left at 1080p.

If you want to have more items on screen with smaller fonts you need to mod the skin.

I spoke to soon when I said that the crashes had stopped. I upgraded the nightly and all seemed well for a day or so - but then it started rebooting again and has been doing so for about a week regardless of updated nightlies. I suspect its kernel panic - but Its not generating a crashlog when it crashes so I cannot be certain. I can not divine any pattern to what is causing the crashes as it happens even when no media is playing or when I am simply playing an audio stream. It can go a whole day without crashing and then it might crash every 20mins all evening. I suspect that there maybe an element of network instability at play.

No problem, you have your opinion, I have mine, life is too short to argue about it.

@Shoog

Have you tried another power supply?

The power supply is a beefy 12V 5A power supply brick - I doubt its the source of my reboots.

I’d have try to set disable the resolution scale in differents builds, the one with better results is the 20260418. Disabling resolution scale makes the UI at full screen (not a quarter) and there is not significant glitches when playback at 4k.

But the system runs odd, slow in response and addons working fine in past build start to behave irresponsible.

Backing to the 20262413 solves that (again).

I have also random restart after 3 seconds of freezing of video playing (playing longer video - maybe some memory leak) at am6plus (device with framebuffer). In this time i dont have logs, but i will check it.

After recently my box was updated from ATV 12 to ATV 14, my old CoreELEC boot stick did not work anymore and I finally figured out that only the New Order version of CoreELEC does boot. I did install the only fitting NO download that I found which is the nightly version:
CoreELEC-Amlogic-no.aarch64-22.0-Piers_nightly_20260418-Generic.img.gz

Now I have this problem with the video colors. I found a thread suggesting that adding this parameter to config.ini could fix it: use_rgb_to_yuv=0 but it did not.

I tried changing the video settings, but they do not have any effect on the colors. Also I can’t find any picture settings on my LG TV that fix the colors.

I also tried other recommendations which I found, like disconnecting the HDMI cable for >30 seconds to make sure the HDMI handshake is redone. But it does not seem like the cable is the problem.

What else can I do?

If it helps: GPU is Mali-G31 according to system info, Display supported HDR types: HDR10, HLG

If you’re playing DV content which does not have HDR fallback then that would explain things.

What are you trying to play, can you provide a mediainfo output?

I have a problem with game menu (see attached video). The menu is transparent, does not hilight selected item. But it works. so this is only the problem with graphics.
The setup is: s905x3, HDMI, resolution 1920x1080@60Hz. I don’t even know where to start debugging this.

Which skin yuo use? AZ2 Resurection? Maybe make issue on github

BTW - u niego pisz po polsku

No, I’m using default skin. I don’t thing this is related to skin, rather to display driver and overlay handling.

Most if not all of my video files are SDR, 10bit, 444, according to the video info. I also tried the “tone map SDR to HDR” (and vice versa) option, no change with the colors. All videos play with this strong green/purple tint.

It seems as if also the colors of the CoreELEC interface are not as they should be. I did not find screenshots online to compare – the main colors are grey and orange, and the movie poster images are looking really pale (no green/purple tint, just yellow-ish pale).

Hi, I’m running CoreELEC-Amlogic-no 22.0-Piers nightly 20260422 on Ugoos SK1, kernel 5.15.196. Using ugoos.am8.dovi.ko but getting black screen on some DV files. Can anyone share the correct dovi.ko for this kernel version? Thanks

Go to Settings → Player → Videos → Adjust display refresh rate → Set to Off

Do they play that way?

No that’s not right, CE colors are grey and Red

Tried turning off Adjust display refresh rate — no luck, still black screen with audio only.
Also tried 3 different dovi.ko files from the forum, all same result.
However, when I disable Dolby Vision support in CoreELEC settings, the affected files play correctly. So the issue is definitely DV-related.
Any ideas?
