hello i was curious about RTL8153 support in the nighly NO builds, i am using an sk4 pro and I have two usb-c ethernet adapters, one is just gigabit ethernet, a tp-link using an ASIX chip and is auto detected and works fine, the other is a wavlink usb-c gigabit + hub (tested working on windows pcs) using the RTL8153 chip and isn’t being seen, I tried the 28/29th build and one from a few days earlier and get the same results. Attached is the lsusb for both, you can see the tplink/asix is seen on the first pic, but the second the wavlink with RTL8153 cant be found. is there a way i can manually install a driver? thank you for any insights.
(i cant embed or link to the images since its a first post i guess, lsusb results are at imgur dot com/a/b2zB5nE )
can’t edit, but here’s a log file paste.coreelec /NightcapFrogs, you can see the register/unregisters of the asix adapter when i plug/unplug it but no mention anywhere of when i connected the rtl8153 one that i can see.
There are databases issue and Input stream adapter error (Error problem occurred with DRM decryptor) in also last build from 1 june 2026 as in 31.may. 2026. Would be nice going back to previous version of ISA.
and all is fine with the DB and indications of previously watched stuff…
Amazon AOD hasn’t worked in a while and personally thought it was an issue with the add on. It starts to play a move then freezes and I just hear audio.
Googling
Yes, the Amazon VOD (formerly Amazon Prime Video) add-on in Kodi relies heavily on the InputStream Adaptive add-on to play streams. Because Amazon uses DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection, InputStream Adaptive is required to decode and play the video.
The most common “input stream adapter error” associated with this add-on is usually the “Widevine CDM missing or incompatible” error.
DV on the AM9 Pro works on one tv but does not work on another with a black screen and audio only in TV-LED and distorted purple and cyan image in PLAYER-LED.
TV-LED and PLAYER-LED DV on AM6B+ on CoreElec NG works on both tvs.
After a LOT of testing and modifying the VSVDB (Vendor-Specific Video Data Block) of Dolby Vision in the edid, I found the 1 bit that is different between the two tvs that makes the tv that was not working in dv now working in dv.
Unfortunately, from the documentation that I was able to find, that bit is marked as “reserved”. It is bit 2 of byte 3, the one just before the two bits saying the LLDV and TV-LED capabilities of the tv.
TV that does not work:
01001000 00110011 10101010 10001000 01100010 01110110 10010111
TV that works:
01001101 00000010 10101110 01011000 10011000 10101010 01011100
=====================^
What is this bit? It seems to do something in kernel 5.15 CE NO versus before.
Is this something that is now needed on one of my tv or maybe a bug or something unintentional by the CoreElec code or by the AMLogic DV driver dovi.ko? I think it’s in dovi.ko but I am asking here to get answers from more knowledgeable persons or devs.
Also, I tried both DV MEL and DV FEL Patched dovi.ko and both does the same problem on one of my tv in dv so it’s not the FEL patch doing the problem.
Just reset your TV HDMI port,to force clean HDMI handshake and probably enable enchanced/optimal HDMI connection,if it’s android go to settings and select reboot, restart AM9 same way.
Small heads-up on a crash I have been suffering with library scans in the last days. Not sure if Kodi or Coreelec specific but I never had issues with this before until a few days ago.
Having a recycle bin enabled on a Synology NFS share of a video partition sent the indexer in an infinite loop trying to go in the recycle bin (no error, just same folder shown) until crashing kodi.
Fix is: either exclude the #recycle folder in the advancedsettings or disable it completely on the synology.
To disable the recycle function on the on Synology:
Log into your Synology DSM dashboard via your web browser.
Open the Control Panel and click on Shared Folder.
Select your movies shared folder from the list and click the Edit button at the top.
On the General tab, look for the checkbox labelled “Enable Recycle Bin”.
Uncheck that box.
Click Save or OK.
Delete the #recycle folder from the share.
(update)
excluding in advancedsettings doesn’t seem to fix it.. I had to disable the recycle bin completely on the share.
One stupid workaround is to add a movie subfolder, move all files in there and add the source starting with this movie subfolder, so you do not scan the #recycle folder.
Thanks for the reply! I already rebooted my tv and unpluggued from wall. Also, I am in enhanced dolby vision mode on tv and 8k enhanced on the avr. Plugging direct to tv changed nothing. The same setup works perfect with am6b+ on coreelec ng and a lot of other media players.
To be clear, what I did is I changed only that one bit of the tv’s edid VSVDB DV block and the dv worked again.
Yes I know I will try to add debug info soon if the new dovi.ko does not fix the problem. I added the most info I found out myself. Thanks for your work!
