Amlogic-no Discussion

Please try again with this DT set:
[sm1_s905x3_cpu_v5.zip|attachment](214.8 KB)
It would be the changes merged into repo.

I can confirm that for me it works with dtb from this zip file.
Thanks Portisch.

4G of RAM

Sorry, but I’m confused. Is the parameter nosplash or noplash?

Will add the parameter, whichever one it is, tomorrow and report back.

Thanks for all your assistance, much appreciated.

hdmitx20 works fine and shows HLG. So I guess it’s hdmitx21, t7 SoC.

I just tested your samples and they show me HLG on VIM4, T7:

You use another skin, maybe it’s not compatible with it?

EDIT: GT King II shows really SDR!?

From the sm1_s905x3_cpu_v5.zip sm1_s905x3_4g_1gbit.dtb brings up all 4 cpu’s
that is on the X96 Max+ and the H96 Max X3 so I will assume all s905x3’s are booting on all cpu’s
I will also check the sm1_s905x3_4g.dtb to make sure
Yes all cpu’s are booting with the sm1_s905x3_4g dtb from this zip file.
The khadas vim3l s905d3 is also booting all 4 cpu;s

Thx

The changes are already now included in new nightly.

Does no HDR work at all?
It looks like the device process a HDMI plug out on boot and clear out all features. PCB design? It does not happen on VIM4. Not sure yet.

King pro also works well, Hyperion Ng does not work well

Just want to say that I think it’s fantastic, the amount of effort that is spent on this new kernel. Cheers to everyone involved in making things better!

Of the 7 Live TV channels, only this channel works as HLG
GT King Pro works as HLG on all channels
Device GT-KING II

Added nosplash parameter, removed eMMC. Still the same, here is the UART Log:

Have 4GB RAM, using 16GB uSD, switch in eMMC position. Have tried many uSD and have installed NG onto them and no issues booting, just issues with NO.

Hoping the log will show something helpful.

Thanks for all you assistance, much appreciated.

@crazyturk please try again with new nightly.
Looks like new kernel added the detection of BT.2020 SDR.
Before it was just handled as HLG. It is now forced again to handled as HLG but the colour conversation should be “correct” now. It’s something about ucode & driver used if BT.2020 SDR is detected or not.

I installed no-nightly on an SD card for a s905X2 box (g12a_s905x2_2g).
Coreelec works perfectly, but I can no longer boot with Android
The entry in the menu (Reboot from eMMC/NAND) is missing
I tried it with a second box (g12a_s905x2_4g_1gbit) and had the same problem
This works perfectly with X3, X4, 922 boxes
There is no problem with ng-nightly

When I try ceemmc -x I get the error message:

eMMC size: 0x00039d000000 [16GB]
Partition ‘/dev/reserved’ does not exist!
Failed to read original partition table!

I just checked it on Homatics Dune SC2, there was the same “issue”. BT.2020 SDR only. After update it’s HLG again.

Thanks, Everything’s working fine now. HLG is doing very well.
Force screen colour depth and Force colour subsampling automatically selected

You need to refresh your Android on emmc. Both issues are related to a not anymore supported file system.

I have a complete reinstallation of Android (with USB burning tool) on both boxes
made
Nevertheless, it doesn’t work with no-nightly
With ng-nightly it works perfectly

Then you will need to find a compatible Android or stay with NG.

I have no idea and no device for debugging showing such behavior.
