Does CE work that box ?
No, this is a completely new SoC, which will also be using a newer version of the kernel. None of us have hardware, nor software to develop on.

I ask the developers to add a brunch for s905x2. I would try to compile the image and run on it.
It’s not that simple. S905X2 requires a different kernel version altogether.
Once we get dev boards/boxes with these chips and the appropriate kernel sources, we’ll start working on making CE run on these new chips.
So after all the source code seems to be there?

I should be receiving my Mecool KM9 (Amlogic S905X2) in a day or two. I will be testing to see if it has a locked bootloader, which I believe it does. If it has a locked bootloader, how can CoreELEC be installed??
Locked bootloader or not, it’s not supported by CE at present. Did you not read any of the posts above?

My intention wasn’t to prevent discussion. Maybe I mis-read the post, but I didn’t see it as a discussion opener.

I agree it did not read as a discussion opener, although it is in the General Discussion forum.
Since then it has developed into a discussion it seems.
To add to the discussion, I have ordered the cheapest version box I could find with this CPU in it.
I look forward to ‘playing’ with it in due course. 
If the bootloader is locked, then it’s unlikely that you’re going to be able to run CE on it in the future. At least that’s the conclusion we came up with from trying to get a Xiaomi Mi Box to boot CE.
Why to buy device with locked bootloader, if can will get X96MAX which unlocked and has su [root] from the box? And some devs builded for this TWRP recovery…

pps. I’m tryed to instal CE for s905 into usb flash, added dtb.img from OTA update and boot this via reboot apdate but loading finishing unlucky and stoped on logo

ppps. And I’m tryed change kernel from ota, change md5, and it’s loading but into android 
I think it has mount system from /dev/block/mmcblk0…
I received an X96 max recently.
I have not had time to do any ‘playing’ with it as yet … so it seems the first thing required will be twrp, which I have never done before.
