I’m looking to smarten up my TV so I can access my Plex server. The TV’s resolution is Full HD.
What kind of device would you recommend for this purpose? I’ve been eyeing two options: the Tanix X4 and the Vontar X4.
Do I really need CE for this, or is Android sufficient?
Can CE work in dual mode with Android on these device?
Are there any stable Plex addons that work with the newer versions of CE?
It will play it but it won’t play the EL of a FEL BD. It plays the BL plus the RPU.
So basically when Dune say a box supports direct playback of Dolby Vision profile 7 FEL double-track and double-layer files, they actually mean that it will play a FEL file but without the EL.
Last time I checked Kodi android iso playback it was HDR only.
The following is basically Dunes small print and says NO it can’t play FEL properly.
“The important Dolby Vision information from the second track/layer (Dolby Vision RPU metadata) is transmitted to TV together with video data from the first track/layer.”
I don’t think FEL will be fixed ever as there is no reason to fix it. P7 is used on encrypted media.
So basically you will need hardware be able to decrypt the content and then it would also be able to use FEL as well.
As the license does not include such case to be able to handle “rip” media it will not be fixed for sure.
I’ve been using Odroid N2 for years with Coreelec 9.2.8 and love it.
I know when choosing the Odroid N2 it was so highly recommended on kodi forum and does 4K HDR + HD audio including Atmos and frame rating matching.
I have no care for DV as my projector, tv and av receiver don’t support DV so I would have to upgrade all my hardware.
What I would like to know is if the newer builds of coreelec on newer hardware would actually improve what I have now, better sound? better video quality etc?
And if so what would be the best upgrade hardware to work better than my odroid n2?
Completely agree with the last 2 posts. It’ll take a lot to dethrone my N2’s. I can’t see the point of constantly chasing support for the latest when the existing is so good.
