My android box died and iām looking actively for a new one (old box was aged and was still using an old CoreElec version).
Current setup is : box on CoreElec (KODI + Emby4Kodi), Denon X2800H receiver, 4K Samsung TV, Emby Server on Synology NAS 218+ (media library).
Iād like to find only boxes :
not more than ~150ā¬/$,
support CoreElec 21+
that can stream 4K+ videos in HDR minimum (and ideally Dolby Vision now in 2023),
all audio passthrough,
Gigabit ethernet,
I read lots of things and realized that this choice is not easy (dont want to make a mistake).
For now i wound go for a S905X4 (-K ?), but which one ?
Or maybe a better chip ?
Shield Pro 2019 is getter older, would it be a good choice to ? (considering my needs)

Iād recommend dune hd homatics box itās worth it. 
Shield 2019 Pro is good choiceā¦ But there is no coreELEC support. But the āMaven buildsā are running very well on this device.

Firstly thankyou everyone for all that you do in making this all a possibility.
I know this has probably been asked a million times over but tbh Iām totally overwhelmed with information that I just donāt know which way to go.
My setup, LG G3 OLED, Samsung Q990c soundbar and lastly an Unraid server with Jellyfin providing the media library.
My files are mostly .mkv in 1080p/4k, most of the 1080p Bluray mkv rips have some sort of DTS and mostly the new 4k stuff is Dolby atmos.
Then I try to make sure itās DV release with hdr10 fallback.
Originally I was using the Jellyfin webos app but there was no DV playback from mkv files and DTS never passed though.
So I bought my first ever zidoo product Z9x pro just 2 weeks ago, and wow does the DV look good, everything works in terms of playback, DTS etc.
BUT ā¦ Thereās always a but, I am a huge Kodi fan and just love the Aeon MQ skins. So I setup the ZDMC on the zidoo with Aeon MQ 9 skin.
Boy is it laggy!!! 1 minute wait when opening music library. But I can live with the lagging, but I canāt live with is NO updated watched list, or any player add-ons like ājumpback on pauseā or āplay next episodeā due to the zidoo external player being used.
So here I am looking for an alternative to suit my needs. I did use Libreelec as a VM on my unraid server and I like the idea of it just been Kodi and nothing else (like the dreadful androidtv billboard).
Can someone please put me onto the right device that gives me the playback capabilities of the zidoo on a CE device.
Or if I have to go a different path all together

The fastest device to be able to run skins is the Khadas Vim4 but no Dolby Vision or audio passthru for TrueHD/DTS-HD-MA

DV and DTS passthrough is a must, more than happy to sacrifice speed over playback capabilities.
The Odroid N2 and Dune HD/ Homatics Box R4k+ seem to get good mentions continually.
I just donāt want to buy another box that doesnāt fullfill my needs again like my zidoo Z9x pro.
How do these boxes compare to the likes of a zidoo Realtek devices
N2 has no Dolby Vision. Homatics 4K plus fits your needs.

I know this is a very broad question I just really donāt want to buy another device only to be let down. I wish I had your knowledge to make such a decision.

I have never used zidoo devices so I canāt speak on them. The 4k plus is feature complete.

Lastly, is there a new product due for release in the next few months that would be worth the wait over the 4k plus?
I donāt know about the rest of you guys but Iām excited to see what Homatics can do with the s905x5 chipset coming mid 2024.

my $0.02 on this:
I donāt have much experience with the product, as I had only gotten it yesterday, but setting up the Dune HD/ Homatics Box R4k+ was seriously easy, and it supports DoVi, ATMOS, DTS:X and the various other bitstreaming audio tracks. the movies do not stutter, even on WiFi (5ghz) and play butter smooth (LG G3 TV).
Iām pretty content with my choice.

My question is what to buy ? S905x4 ?
