Hopefully, this will allow the community to heal. It was quite sad to see it fragment over the lack of FEL support in 5.15. Maybe some of the developers from the forks will join the official team. Indeed, it’s been nice to see Pannal recent pull requests
As for actual devices, I don’t see this changing much. S922x will remain the disc player replacement king, the Homatics S905x4 box will be the best combo box hindered by an underpowered CPU, and the S905X5 might dethrone the S922X for those who don’t need 3D. The S928X has the sad honor of being the most powerful box with the least useful set of hardware codecs lacking both 3D and FEL.
Who ever said 3D isn’t working on S905X5M or S905X5? Another mythos?
Like this only old hardware can do FEL because of dual decoder support. Also such mythos with no origin. AML can handle sind GXL up to 9 decoders in parallel.
I know only the S928X what does not have 3D MVC support. It’s for 8k mostly only.

Me. Hope to be wrong :). Thought Amlogic abandoned supporting their MVC decoder a long time ago. Part of the reason the macroblocking issue never got fixed w/the handful of titles affected. But, if MVC is supported on S905X5 and S905X5M, that’s indeed news.
The “active” support for MVC was stopped about 2015, that was the time where 3D did end and all TV provider did cancel this production line. So such issues with “macro block issue” will never be fixed. But I see no reason why the decoder should not be supported, except the S5.
