CE-NG Dolby Vision (+FEL) for DV-licensed SOCs (s905x2, s922x/z, s905x4)

Yes, all can.
Rocktek is gigabit too…

 Nokia 8010 could be also a possibility, it’s quite easy to buy locally and it’s also cheap (maybe because it is s905x4-k and not -j ?). My only concern is probably the lack of updates on the Android TV part, compared with the support of Dune HD, Homatics or Rocktek.

By the way, how CE performs on USB3.0 vs SD CARD vs eMMC?

I have CE on microSD through USB 3.0 adapter

works great but I have also moved data to eMMC which makes things faster.

No IR and adding one looked tough RockTek G2 - #44 by emveepee

I use G10S Pro remote on my Homatics box, works great using the included usb adapter, or BT, why is IR necessary?

It is not necessary, I usually us the G20 or a USB-HID remote since I like number keys but the IR is useful when you have a CE device that support bl301 injection wakeup (none on this list AFAIK). Some people do use automation like Control4 and Harmony remotes an hubs.

If you’re planning on using both CE and Android, it’s useful to have a remote that does both IR & BT. It’s not possible to have a BT remote paired to both CE & Android, so you use the IR function to navigate in CE and BT for Android.

Or you can also use just one remote for both by sticking to CEC control, using only IR, or a remote with its own wireless USB dongle.

But if you’re primarily using CE, BT is more responsive than CEC or IR, and it’s not directional.

I use USB-HID RF since it also works on both Android and CoreELEC and gives more keys than CEC and is not line of sight. My remote has programmable IR codes too so I could even use it with bl301 injection. With the newer devices, I end booting from EMMC then shutdown then power up long press restart to go to CE.

Thenx, is there an URL with this image version to download?

And what is the FW version now, after OTA update, that locked the bootloader?

My “bad” firmware is 11.1.14 I asked Kinhank for the official older firmware for the Amlogic burning tool but this is when they asked me to be patient. I dual boot so I don’t want to downgrade firmware anyway.

to appease everyone , why can’t they put out a statement that we expect another update with time frame that will allow all users to run CoreElec, I know they’ve mentioned an update is coming but this could be to fix the botched update for adaptive HDR.
I’m more inclined to believe KinHank will allow users but it’s not 100%
you seem very reassured they will keep their promise to you.
Also what I would like to know will they want everyone in the future to apply for password to run their own OS.
Seems as though for some reason some entity is doing stuff on the box they didn’t want and they blocked it and doing per individual basis. so anyone that wants coreelec can, but whatever software they didn’t want to run on their device can’t?

All hail King CE-NG! :joy:

I wonder if I could get this running on my Dune Boxy…

Hmmmmmm
11.1.14 with kernel revision 5.4.210

This was before update?

I also clicked on update?
Wish i hadn’t

Now reads as
11.1.13 with kernel revision 5.4.242 android 12

  • After update i did do factory reset, from settings
  • And also from recovery ui

Usually this returns boxy to Original firmware.
It did not work.

Unless factory reset only affect the ATV version?

What does your firmware read as now,and kernel revision
After update

Odd I was sure I saw 11.1.14 this morning when I checked but now it is .13 with kernel 5.4.242 maybe my eyes are going. However it clearer says ATV 11 not 12 20240812 with SDK 30.

I also did do the factory reset that is how I lost the adb password

I think it was .14 also originally
So they have gone to older version ATV
And newer kernel revision
Madness!!

Ahhhhhhhhhh
I did not try developers options before reset
So unsure if password was required or not.

Either way is bootloader issue

Still a decent Box
Time will tell

Miss my CoreELEC

My Kinhank G1 the FW version number is 11.1.4 before update.

literally the day it was supposed to get official coreelec support and get number 1 position for coreelec box they pull this. The timing is so funny. I even posted a deal on a deal website because it’s been the cheapest ever $69.99 shipped to UK, we even have a cashback site that almost always works for another 5%
so it would have cost me $66.50 shipped to my door!!
offer is still on. I left the deal on that site, but feel like taking it down. KinHank aren’t in my good books right now. If they fix this mess then $66.50 for that bad boy!
edit: forgot to mention I have a cashback credit card of 0.5%(every bit counts!)
so now it’s $66.17
let’s call it $66!! what a bloody bargain, now it’s not. no coreelec!

The Dune Boxy (Skyworth) has no environment value for USB/SD booting. It’s just not there. It could be added, along with other configuration changes, after which it could potentially work.

I advise you to disconnect the Internet when you turn on the device for the first time, because it is possible that the disastrous update will work automatically
