There is no magicsee c500 pro to choose it

Use Generic SM1 S905X3 100 mb
Or if box is 1000 mb /1 gig try it

My friend
Magicsee c500 pro
4GB Ram DDR4
32 GB Rom
What is could be 100 mb or 1000 mb
Could generic SM1 support Tuner dvb-s2

Ethernet transceiver 100mb or 1000Mbit in device tree blob

Just see if box even boots CoreELEC
Then worry about Tuner.

I think hardware de-interlacing is broken on CE-NG.

Happy that I am with CE-NG working fine, I was browsing through very old demo files and I noticed a big display bug. At first I thought it only affected old MPEG2 videos but given the heavy distortion looking like old CRT scan lines, I had a hunch about interlaced videos and indeed, these are the only ones affected.

I have old Dolby Digital/SurroundEX demo videos (MPEG2) and Panasonic interlaced demos (H264) they’re all affected. If I disable acceleration on each codec, the videos are displayed correctly. I can live with MPEG acceleration disabled but definitely not with H264 disabled

This display bug does not exist on CE-NE

This is not really important to me but I reported it in case the CoreELEC team wants to investigate for the intellectual challenge

In case you need the demos to test :

I can’t find the Panasonic H264 original files online but if needed, I can provide them

– EDIT –
Forgot to mention : Searching throughout the forum for similar reports, I tested

  • Realtime toggle deinterlace in HW acceleration
echo di_debug_flag0x10000 > /sys/class/deinterlace/di0/debug
echo di_debug_flag0x0 > /sys/class/deinterlace/di0/debug
  • Bypass di module parameters
    echo 1 > /sys/module/di/parameters/bypass_all

None of which had the slightest noticeable effect

– EDIT 2 –
Forgot to mention the device : S905X4 in DuneHD Box R 4k (black device)

In which device you’re having this, I suppose S905X4?

Is there dolby vision support for the ODROID N2+?

Stupid me, I forgot to mention the device.

You supposed correctly, this is a S905X4 in a DuneHD Box R 4k (black device)

Use Amlogic-ne or ATV14.

The benefits of Amlogic-ng, like DV with FEL support, far out weight the visual glitches on interlaced content which is very rare nowadays anyway so I’ll stick with it

I only reported the issue in case there was a possible fix. As I stated in the initial message, this is not important to me, the only interlaced content I have are demo files.

These interlaced files, or vc=1, working good in CE=NG,
just in the early homatics revisions.
We tested.
The silver one eg. that has Rev b.
There is correct.
The Rev d versions has issue with.

I confirm that my DuneHD/Homatics Box R 4k have a S905X4 rev d chip, as stated by SystemInfo → Hardware, where the issue is present.

– EDIT –
Oh… interesting! You mentioned VC-1 and it got me curious. I have 7 movies in VC-1 format, none of them is interlaced (verified using MPV in a frame-by-frame motion on a fast moving scene). 6 of them show the same visual bug as interlaced files and 1 won’t even start, the spinner keeps spinning but movie does not start. Anyhow, I suspect that even if it started, it would exhibit the display bug.

Good to know anyway. Not very important to me as I have a 4K/HEVC version of these movies for the most part except a few of them but I’ll find a replacement or use a re-encoded version of them if necessary.

Yes, I not use those codecs , but I tested.
Blakey said once, he thought there is a difference between the revisions, and we tested several.
The oldest, when it appeared, was with the old kernel, and supported those. The newest not.

Anyone else having trouble with mkv embedded subtitles? Subtitles won’t show up until seeking backward or forward in the video. (S905x3 device)

There is no menu, only a picture is displayed, please check
ng-11??/1118/1121

Yeah, it’s been a problem for me for a long time.

It’s random though. Sometimes subs actually display from the start but a lot of the time I have to seek to get them to display.

Why is CoreELEC NG is effected when a device gets and Android update?
I thought that CoreELEC was standalone with it’s own kernel and drivers.

Are there any design documents or “it’s all in the code”?
