Thank you for all your help, now all my Ugoos boxes are working flawlessly! ![]()
thank you for the precise instructions, I want to ask, can this entire operation be done from an android phone?
Sorry. No idea. I always use windows. There may be a way using ssh etc.
Did you post in the wrong thread? Why are you using NE
, on Ugoos Am6+?
Moving to 21.3 NG Nov 4 ,does not break Dolby Vision Profile FEL 7 ,everything is working all Dolby Vision profile!!!
You can always copy the downloaded CoreELEC file to an external USB Drive, then use Kodi File Manager to place in update Folder. Make sure you have added source in file Manager/storage
Huge problems with Vontar X4 4GB/32GB and 21.3 while 21.2 worked fine
First had problem with the GUI being small on top left part of TV, solved by disabling GUI scaling
Then big problem playing files, black screen when starting playing anything through AVR, worked fine directly through TV but thats no good need audio to go through AVR.
Realised it was due to framerate switching from 60p to 24p, changed Settings - Player - Videos - Adjust display refresh rate to OFF, solved the black screen when playing issue but new issue popped up lots of artifacts on screen when pulling up GUI while watching video. Also artifacts when playing most videos. Problems only through AVR.
“downgraded” back to 21.2 but issues with frame rate switching and artifacts persist, next step will be to reflash 21.2 from zero
Its s905x4. Have you tried NO 22 as NE is end of life now.
I have s905x4 Tox3 thats working ok atm on NO.
I could not fix the GUI issues, always came back in NE.
In NO I leave all settings at default. (GUI @1080)
Baz
Well I tried NO 22 nightly 2911 and it seems to work fine, however I must set Settings - Player - Videos - Adjust display refresh rate to OFF as the AVR kills the signal when I start anything and it switches output from 60p to 24p if this is set to on.
Do you use the AVR as an HDMI amp?
What model AVR
Also the Nightlys change and add things along the way. Best to try one and keep going to see if something changes for you, OR just use an older version that works.
not sure what using an AVR as a HDMI amp is but the box with Coreelec goes into the AVR and then from there to the TV, there are other devices on the other HDMI inputs of the AVR
it’s a quite old Denon AVR-X1200W but it does the job
CoreELEC Compatibility & CEC Issues After AM8 Pro Android TV 14 Upgrade
After upgrading my AM8 Pro to Android TV 14, CoreELEC 21 NE fails to enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi—only CoreELEC 22 NO supports these features. Is there any plan to fix CoreELEC 21 NE, or has it been deprecated?
Meanwhile, CoreELEC 22’s CEC functionality feels glitchy. Specifically, if I turn on the TV first and then power on the box later, I can’t access the CoreELEC interface—I have to restart both the box and TV to resolve it. Could this be due to my TV being outdated, or a CEC version compatibility problem?
Tried to download 21.3 stable for Odroid-C5 from selection menu - got “not found” in browser… will there be CE-NO 21 builds or just 22?
NO starts at 22, v21 is EOL and will not receive further support.
OSD scaling broken after boot on S905X4 (Vontar X4) in CoreELEC 21.x – works correctly in 20.5
Setup
Device: Vontar X4, Amlogic S905X4, 4 GB, CoreELEC: 21.3-Omega (also observed on earlier 21.x), Kodi GUI resolution: 1920×1080p, TV: LG 49SK8100PLA (4K HDR, HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color enabled), Connection: HDMI direct (no AVR)
Problem
After upgrading from CoreELEC 20.x to CoreELEC 21.x, OSD elements (play/pause/seek bar, dialogs) are incorrectly scaled during 4K video playback:
Temporary Workaround (session-only)
While playing a 4K video:
-
Open Video Calibration
-
Repeatedly reset calibration until Kodi shows
“Reset calibration for 4096×2160 @ 23.98 – Full Screen” -
After confirming this dialog, OSD scaling becomes correct
-
Fix lasts only until reboot
This suggests a DRM / GUI plane initialization issue related to specific HDMI modes (4096×2160@23.98).
Summary
This appears to be a regression introduced in CoreELEC 21.x affecting S905X4 devices, likely related to DRM/KMS plane initialization or HDMI mode handling.
The issue is not present in 20.5-Nexus.
First thing is to try fresh install.
And again read post above: CE-21 is no more under deevelopment.
I faced the same issue on S905X4 when upgrading from 21.2 to 21.3, so it happened in the minor version bump. I initially thought it was due to HDR10+, yet it’s 4K scaling in general. I dont care too much about the wrongfully scaling of the GUI, the main problem is displaying of subtitles as it is at the bottom of the top left square. If only S905X4 is affected on NE, I guess it makes sense to leave this as is, especially if NG is working fine.
I just upgraded to 22.0-Piers_alpha2 and it’s working as expected on par with 21.2. I am jumping onto nightlies next since we are closing in to the beta stage and I don’t mind helping out to test and identify issues as we move towards 22 ![]()
