Does anybody else besides ragico actually have a HDR10+ capable TV here?
@ragico Can I get you to run the dispinfo script, and post the url it spits out, so that I have some debug info about your TV. Pretty much want to check that the HDR10+ capability of the display is being detected correctly.
Yes I can run the dispinfo script, but dont know yet how to do it.
My display only support HDR10 & Dolby Vision. Happy to do anything to try and get HDR10+ working. If needed too I’ll try and find a HDR10+ display.

I’ve done some testing and I think that for further testing we should use samples that are verified to be correct in order to trigger HDR10+. So, making a database of HDR10+ samples should be considered. When testing a sample with CoreELEC, it should also be tested with the TV’s internal player to see any differences and if the sample is triggering HDR10+. The problem with HDR10+ is that if the file is not recognized as HDR10+, it will fallback to HDR10. This makes it even harder to figure this out without proper equipment to read signal received etc like an AVR or a TV which show detailed information.
Internal player - Samsung QE55Q6FNA
With Samsung internal player, sample 2-4 triggered HDR logo (I don’t know if there is a HDR10+ logo, so can’t tell if I actually got HDR10+).
Android - VIM3 Pie V190704 (4.9.113)
With Android (VIM3 Pie V190704) all samples showed HDR logo (still no HDR10+). I tried both Amlogic Player and OMX).

The first sample actually bugged the GUI to move half a screen size up which resulted in the bottom half of the GUI showing on the upper half of the screen. A reboot fixed this.

What you try to test that doesn’t exists yet. We are not there yet.
Right now the HDR10+ video plays in HDR10 with 3.14 kernel and SDR with 4.9 kernel.
cdu13a is working on it to fix this in 4.9.
The next step is to send the HDR10+ signal to the tv as HDR10+. I don’t know how much work and time is that.

Even when HDR10+ play will be supported your tv will not indicate that (as there is no HDR10+ logo), so it will be not easy to notice it at all.
HDR10+DV.m2ts is an untouched file from the Alita UHD BD.
It contains the main video stream (with HDR10/HDR10+ info) and a Dolby Vision substream.
My LG tv has no problem to play it in HDR10. (as LG it is not HDR10+ capable by choice)
II, III, IV samples contains only the encoded(?) main video stream (without the DV stream as it is not supported).
The III seems the proper HDR10+ encode based on the mediainfo output, but mediainfo is not up-to date as it can’t recognize the DV substream. which is present on some BD a while ago.
I know that there is no implementation for HDR10+ in CE with 4.9 kernel. I did the tests so cdu13a has some data to look into this.
I’ve no need of Dolby Vision and I don’t think it will happen in the coming year, so DV is of no interest for me. A fun-fact is that playback of UHD Blu-Rays with a capable TV which support HDR10+ and DV will automatically choose HDR10+ and there is no option to choose Dolby Vision.
Regarding the HDR10+ logo. I’ve not looked into this, so I don’t know if some brands have a logo for it or not. The only way I can verify that my TV is receiving HDR10+ signal is by connecting my AVR which will display detailed information about the signal. Unfortunately, I can’t do this when using my TV’s internal player.
All the samples were found on forums, so I don’t have any more information about them beyond mediainfo and ffprobe. The purpose of the samples was that they should hopefully cover some encodes and files which will be relevant in the future regarding looking into HDR10+

Most of the latest AVRs can display audio and video signal information.
yeah but just bit curious, since I did not know any AVR supports this HDR10+ format (at least mine only supports HDR10 and dolby vision only afaik). My AVR only able to show information about the screen resolution and refresh rates (eg 1080p 50hz), the sound formats, channels, etc. Just not the HDR info , or maybe I dont know how to display more detailed info

Work has been really rough this week. My job occasionally involves a lot of labor outside and it’s been high heat, high humidity here. Which has left me in a bit of an sore and exhausted when I get home. So progress is on the very slow side.
Hoping to finish a test build today that I’ve added a lot of extra debugging to which should help verify which of the two places in the code I suspect is the cause of the problem. After that I can make a fix and release a test build. Which will hopefully allow hdr10+ to be played back on devices that support it, and played as hdr10 for devices that don’t support.
