CoreELEC incredibly slow to respond on USB drive

I have installed Omega v21.3 on a 64 Gb flash drive and it works, but although I have a very fast fiber internet connection, it takes up to 2 minutes to load any images within the Add-on repositories, and at least 30 seconds before anything will begin to install. When I click on a category, for example Program add-ons, the screen freezes for anything from 30 to 60 seconds and the LED on the flash drive blinks at high speed while this happens.

At a guess, I would say the device is struggling to read the flash drive. Is there a minimum read/write speed required when using a flash drive, please?

EOL.

Update to Piers 22 then you will have support from Dev

I was afraid to do it because there is no stable release for it. Ok, I will do it, but I have a couple of questions.

I have installed a large amount of add-ons and begun scanning one of my drives (it has reached 2% of a single TV show after almost 2 hours!). If I reflash the drive with Piers, will I lose everything including all my settings, or are those stored within Android? Do I actually need to reflash the drive or would it suffice to copy and paste from the Piers file?

Also, given the horrendous speed of running CE from a USB drive, would it be better to flash direct to eMMC and would that lose me all the add-ons and configuration settings installed so far?

I have now installed Piers 22 beta1 on a SanDisk Ultra SD card. As soon as I ran it on my new AM6B+, I got this message.

How can I update the device’s firmware when it is a brand new box and on checking for updates it tells me I have the latest firmware?

Wrong Dovi.ko file?

I have no idea. I downloaded it from this forum, but I didn’t know there was more than one. Where should I get the correct one from, please?

You are member since 2020 here. I have no more spoons left to feed you.

Please search the Forum ,like all others here do.

All your questions have been answered multiple times in various threads

The only one I found says it is not working yet.
Now do you guys understand why I wanted to use the most recent stable version? I am 70 years old. Most of this stuff is far beyond my IT skills.

You’re misunderstanding “stable version.”
CE is a non-commercial product. Users are expected to inform themselves.

You call it a stable version, but it’s outdated and there is no longer any support.
Apart from that, all your questions have already been answered multiple times in this forum.

Like I said, I used the search and the only one I found that came close was the thread I posted. In that, it appears we are waiting on an updated Dovi.ko to be released although I did not see anyone having the issue I encounter when starting up. Perhaps I’m missing something?

So much people using dovi.ko, only You having issues.
Think about this

Freddy told me to do a forum search and this was the only thread I came up with that discussed the latest dovi.ko:

I know you all think I am an idiot, and I probably am because I do not have the same skills as you guys. I installed Omega 21.3 and was told I could get no help because it had reached EOL. The only way to get support was if I installed Piers 22.0 beta1. I did that and posted a photo of the problem on start up. Freddy says I may have the wrong DoVi.ko file, so I asked for a link to the right one and got told to search the forum. I cannot find the DoVi.ko file that you claim nobody is having any problems with.

There is a very long thread, just read

Thank you. I will read it. I just installed that file and can confirm it now starts with no message. The curious thing is that the patched fix file is one third the size of the one I had previously.
