You donā€™t need a whitelist to achieve what you want.

Your GUI is set to 1080p which means the upscaling to 4K content is already handled through the TV. Kodi upscales to GUI res and the rest is handled by TV.

Just set 1080p GUI and highest refresh rate available (for smoother menus) and nothing in the whitelist. Only need a whitelist if you set 4K GUI and still want TV to upscale, but on AM6b+ there is no benefit to 4K GUI since it is upscaled anyway.

Why is it upscaled ? I didnā€™t get that comment

NG has no native 4K GUI, not possible in 4.9 kernel. Need NE or NO to get native 4K GUI.

@Vasco, @borygo, @ragico my bad, I thought that all EU countries have long ago switched to DVBT(2) broadcast standardā€¦
I know that many DVBS transponders still emit in 1080i, but didnā€™t know that terrestrial broadcasts are still in this standard.

good day. for me the whole GUI upscale and whitelist topic doesnā€™t work correctly with cpm11.

not sure why, and itā€™s not really a showstopper, the upscaling pq difference from 1080p content to my lg oled65c4 is not visible for me (I thought lg would be better and therefore tried).

I read everything I could get my hands on in l the official help description. maybe Iā€™m to stupid or thatā€™s just wrong.

  1. GUI resolution and upscaling functionality should be 2 different settings in my opinion, but ok
  2. Iā€™m always using 23.9hz, itā€™s the majority of my content and Iā€™m not watching TV. Iā€™m to afraid of any soap effect or artifical stutter. I like 23.9
  3. GUI with 3860p is nice but I did not see a huge difference in 1080p
  4. box - denon x4800h (all upscaling and picture processing is off) - lg oled c4
  5. all hdmi 2.1 48gig cable

no whitelist usage:

ā†’ GUI 3860p/23.9hz
1080p and 3860p content - output 3680p
all perfect incl dv, but of course 1080p is upscaled with the box

ā†’ GUI 1080p/23.9hz
1080p content - native 1080p output
3680 content - denon info overlay and lg info are showing 1080p is received :frowning: that means the box is actually down scaling?!

tried whitelisting some resolutions, no change

my perfect setting would be
GUI with 3860, all 720p and 1080p content not upscaled by box.

but besides that, the box and all your work is incredible!! I love it and I send out one trillion thank you to everyone working on ce and Kodi!!!

In fact, the annoying situation is that it is not possible to set /fix the resolution, unless the AMB6+ is always turned on after the AVR. I donā€™t understand why but if I have set the resolution at 2160p, when I turn it back on it doesnā€™t see the AVR or the projector because turned off,the amb6+ it autosets to 1080p and sometimes 720p. I confirm that I prefer the GUI at 2160p.

I started this tangent with the 1080i blunder.

Apologies cpm testers
Recommend is 1920 x 1080p 50/60 hz

That does not mean you cannot set GUI to whatever you want to match your display

My intention was to reaffirm your suggestion to start simple and build from there.

Hello! I am relatively new to CoreElec, and having a similar issue with my projector and a AMB6+ running through AVR. Though Iā€™d personally prefer GUI at 2160p, thatā€™s just because it looks a little sharper to me. Iā€™d much rather not have issues with the projector occasionally dropping to 720p or other weird non-4k resolutions when in GUI. That leads to two quick questions if you donā€™t mind?

  1. Is this thread saying that if I just leave my GUI setting in Kodi on CE (not CPM build) at 1080p, I wonā€™t have these issues? And Kodi will switch to 2160p for video playback as needed?
  2. should I move to CPM? Iā€™ve had some audio sync delay issues which appear to be getting worked on on both the CE and CPM sides - but I donā€™t need DV support (just HDR). So I am not sure if there is greater benefit to moving to CPM builds, or whether I should just stay with CE Nightlies?

Really appreciate any pointers you all can share! Thank you!

The latest nightly contains the fixed for AV sync. As CPM bases his builds on the coreelec code base, my assumption is that heā€™s just including those fixes. It may be that thereā€™s some extra work to be done when the conversion engine is active but Iā€™m not sure.

If you leave your GUI in 1080p it will switch on 4k playback so long as you tell it to. Itā€™s probably the preferred option for most as otherwise, Kodi will be upscaling your 1080p content and itā€™s not great at that.

Thank you very much!

CPM a10 and above has the AV sync fixes as well.

Moving to CPM is a personal preference. If you donā€™t need the VS10 engine, you can still benefit from the myriad of technical details exposed in his version and the modified skins that take advantage of it.

Not the very latest changes I think. Iā€™m out of the loop on the current sync stuff though.

Nah the sync issues received a significant patch on the 28th November. The A10 release was a couple of weeks before that so I canā€™t see how they would be incorporated.

Nothing changed with A11/A10 regarding audio/video sync on my end. Everything is in sync, but it becomes out of sync if I skip or resume.

Does the problem exist with nightlies ?

I need some help. I use Nokia 8010 but canā€™t get Dolby Vision to work with cpm Build (No Dolby Vision Setting in CoreElec Menu) CoreElec NE Build works fine.
