Hello!
Even if R3S3T_9999 doesn’t seem to need your help anymore, I do. I would be very grateful if you would help me get the 2024.08.01 nightly build (the one with a really long list of changes), since the current one (2024.08.04) seems to have messed up things for me with DV playing on AM6+ (I have a lot of freezes and stuttering, whereas on the 08.01 build things were buttery smooth). I cannot for the life me find it anywhere, since i can only get the previous release (08.03).
Had I known, I would have saved that build, but by the time I’ve realized the newest nightly does not agree with my setup, the old one was nowhere to be found (lesson learned). The backups I have do not save the build version, only add-on data and other settings.

Thank you so much! I will reinstall and test it this evening and come back to report.
As to why the latest build has caused troubles, I have no idea. I can be a lot of things (my box, the AVR, the network, CE etc.), but the only thing that has changed from one day to another was the nightly build, since i had Auto updates on. This is why I want to try first with the last nightly that worked.

Any new 2nd gen Cube, as in not used, because all units ever manufactured shipped with unlockable firmware. They also still have mask mode enabled (bootrom level recovery), making hard bricking nearly impossible.

Why cannot be used? Is there a mandatory firmware update that removes the ability to install CE?

I wonder if the Android version actually can playback FEL similar to Chromecast w GTV

CE can’t boot without an unlocked bootloader, and 2nd gen Cube can only be unlocked up to firmware PS7292. All new Cubes ship with PS7229 or older. The unlocking method is patched on any firmware above PS7292, and there’s no way to downgrade (anti-rollback is active).

The Cube won’t play DV FEL in FireOS, only in CE. But presumably any DV licensed g12a/b and sm1 SOC will play DV FEL in CE if you can manage to get it to boot CE.

CE video handling doesn’t distinguish between S922X and S905X2, both are generically handled as g12 SOCs. And all AM6+ devices running CE are currently using the S905X2 dovi.ko which is also used by the S905Y2.

Why do we not see more S905X2/S905Y2 devices then running CoreElec with FEL DV?

Is it there is no way to access the bootloader? Tivo Stream 4K runs S905Y2, but I’m guessing there is no way to put CE on it.

There’s no DV licensed S905X2/S905Y2 devices that ship with unlocked bootloaders, they’d have to be hacked. Google/Netflix certification requires a locked device, and streaming is where the money is at. Certified Amlogic devices with SC2 and later SOCs can boot CE because image signature verification isn’t enforced for USB booting.

Well, for some reason reinstalling an older nightly (08.02) seems to have worked for me. DV playback is back to normal, without stuttering or freezes. I have no idea why, but I’ll take it.
