I dont think it is impossible to get lldv on your PJ without the need for ”Fury device”
Look for Dolby VSVDB in cpm thread.
I have that working on my Epson LS 12000

Simple, as I always do, from CoreElec/System/Backup…
Next time I’ll just use a disk copy tool, source SD image to new SD image. Takes a bit more time, but makes exact clones of original disk.
A few points:
Player Led (DV-LL) (aka lldv) is effectively HDR video under the hood just not flagged as such.
You can Load an EDID into CE the EDID can have a DV-LL Dolby Vision VSVDB in it to make CE think the display is DV-LL - details in the thread Jonke mentioned - have a look at this post I made to see if that makes sense regarding the save and load and manipulation: EDID Override - Injecting a Dolby VSVDB Block - #21 by cpm, then use the spreadsheet to create a VSVDB Payload with DV-LL. Note there are caveats around EDID loading and keeping it loaded - more details later in the thread. (Once the EDID is loaded you can then still again override the Dolby VSVDB block from the EDID direct in the CE UI but it needs one in the EDID to start with to indicate it has DV-LL.)
For Player Led (HDR) the code is hard coded (as shown in the link below), it would be possible to build more in the UI to override these as well (if there was a good case for doing such) - maybe a challenge for someone to take on, but a little unknown if past this point the linux-amlogic changes these values again or will then just pass out the HDMI as is - so would need experiment as well.
Run ceemmc -x to backup entire system to ext disk. Copies everything.
Thanks a lot both cpm and Jonke for the pointers here. I will try it tomorrow once I have access to my system once again!
I thought that this works only to/from eMMC drive. Never seen any mention that it can transfer CE from SD card to USB drive, nor have I seen any command to do this.
Just a quick update to confirm that after following those steps I have LL-DV option available, and I don’t need my HD Fury anymore to remove the HDR flag.
Thanks cpm, Jonke and OCEFDA for the guidance!
SD card → emmc → USB, done
Then it’s not (much) different that my method: old SD card → PC → new SD card.
Lol didn’t you say it didn’t copy everything? You avoid that with emmc method
No, I said that CE method didn’t copy everything, but image copy tool does a complete job, makes a perfect clone.
CE backup/restore copies only config files not the OS itself.
Yes, it says that in description; it also saves all addons…
And then you can restore it off of the USB? Does the USB need to be empty otherwise?
@vpeter Given your comment that it only copies config files then the appropriate responsible party should update the CoreELEC guide wiki for backups below since it says it backups the “entire system”. For anumber of people this would imply everything including the OS itself.
CoreELECs internal backup tool backs up and restores the entire system, including: usernames, passwords, settings, add-ons, configurations files, personal api keys, pictures, video and audio files, thumbnails, temporary files, etc.
Fixed.
Or tell us how it should be formulated.
@vpeter, Just say it like you did - “CE backup/restore copies only config files not the OS itself”. If the backup/restore only copies CE and Kodi config files (not other installed applications config files on CE) then I would say - “CE backup/restore copies only config files for CE and Kodi not other applications config files and not the OS itself”.
I do not know how this specific backup/restore functions works. So I cannot write instructions on something I do not know. That is probably how we got a wrong wiki, someone that did not know how this backup/restore functions works wrote it incorrectly.
Are you willing to rerun this test with a different method to convert from hdr10+ that might reduce some of these differences?
If so what would you need? An updated dovi_tool.exe
?
Sure, give me your custom dovi_tool and I’ll have a look
Would someone be so kind as pointing me to the latest update - I can’t seem to locate. I am on the T4 tar and would like to get the latest.
TIA
