FEL - Amlogic NO support

Have the same issue on Ugoos AM9 Pro with 20260606 nightly no build.

Issue only occurs with Dolby Vision files, non-DV files are fine.

Downgrade to 22.0-Piers_nightly_20260531

And turn off the updates as there is no issue on this build

It happen after 1 june update

It seems to be something to do with the resolution/refresh rate selection. I think it’s DV 4k 24p files that are effected, 23.97p files seems ok.

I found a work around by setting whitelist resolutions, I selected all 4k and 1080p options and now no more black screens. Very strange.

What is the exact last working build or first not working one?

And as usual, no log, no problem.

Here is a log with two playback attempts, first is with an empty whitelist and results in the black screen but the audio is playing. 2nd with a whitelist in place with all 4k resolutions and playback starts correctly.

This is not FEL specific, this file is DV P8.

Seems to be trying to use 3840x2160 @ 48.00 without an explicit whitelist, which I don’t think my TV can actually display.

Edit: Also found disabling QMS in my TV HDMI settings removed the 48hz option from the whitelist options and presumably the EDID, and now CE is not trying to use it without a whitelist set. That solves my issue, no idea if this is the same as anyone else’s problem or just some strange LG TV QMS quirk.

This a very good example why support requests are ignored and stay unanswered when no logs are included. Posting a log like @nissel shows direct the error, in this case TV/user settings:

[WHITELIST] Matched an exact resolution with double the refresh rate 3840x2160 @ 48.00 - Full Screen (22)

So anyone else request support without a useful full log will be, said thousands of times, just be ignored, flagged or removed.

Thanks, I edited my original message and it looks like it’s related the QMS (which is enabled by default on my TV). CE seems to be including various refresh rates that aren’t supported as fixed options when it’s enabled.

Set up:

  • AM9 Pro with Coreelec 22 20260606 and 20260608 nightly builds on brand new 256GB samsung micro SD
  • Sony Bravia 8 II TV (on both Android 12 and Android 14 OS), audio is passthrough to Wiim Ultra using HDMI ARC

Problem:

  • All 3 DV files (2 MEL and 1 FEL) showing black screening when played, no audio or video. Switching the TV input to another source and switch back solves the issue. Opened video can be played smoothly with audio. However, black screen re-appears if another DV file is opened instead
  • Switching refresh rate of Coreelec also leads to same issue, the input source change trick does the job.

Thought it was a TV issue so factory reset the TV, same problem. Default skin also reproduces this issue.

HDMI resyncs are very inconsistent here too, exactly the same symptoms and work around of switching inputs to get the signal back.

This is worse than other devices connected to the same display and using the same certified cables.

It’s your TV signal. And as every where written in forum try again with clean, unmodifed install.
This does also mean NO 4k GUI, especial disable GUI scalling DISABLED!!
Maybe this solve it for your Sony.

Also ensure VRR and QMS is disabled on your TV as it’s maybe default on and a reset just enable it again.

Otherwise you will need to wait until someone in our team get a Sony TV to be able to check it…

Thank you. Clean re-install on both TV and box unfortunately didn’'t help. It is connected to an HDMI input without VRR (only 2 HDMIs support VRR).

Moin,

Can you try it for me without the Wiim and passthrough?
Can you use HDMI1 or 2 and Settings/Channels & inputs/External inputs/HDMI signal format/VRR set to ā€œOptimized formatā€.
Can you try another HDMI Cable?

I’ve read about the black screen issue before, but so far it’s always been a Denon or Marantz that’s to blame.

Tried Wiim off, another HDMI cable and another HDMI input. Still back screen.

Edit: tried both HDMI 1/2 (no VRR support, only 4K 60) and HDMI 3/4 (VRR supported, up to 4K 120). Issue is the same, for HDMI regardless of format (standard/enhanced) or VRR

Hmmm, this might sound silly, but do you have the wrong dovi.ko file in your root directory? Or maybe none at all?

Nope, you talking switching the TV input to another source and switch back solves the issue.

So you can try to disable all CEC devices.

I’m using this one. Will try the other ones later

Thanks, will test the CEC method later. Dovi file - see above

Hi team,

I’ve noticed a reproducible bug regarding Dolby Vision FEL playback. When watching any FEL DV Remux, playback fails to terminate normally. Instead of returning to the UI, it hangs on a black screen, requiring a manual stop.

The issue happens consistently with every FEL file I test. I’m currently away from my setup but will upload the debug logs if you couldn’t reproduce the behaviour, just let me know plz.

Thanks!

Edit: not only FEL, one of the movies was MEL and honestly i didn’t try HDR10 or SDR.

Edit2: I think the issue has been adressed with recent commits ā€œamdv: suppress DV VSIF emit only when DV is fully offā€, will try with the next nightly and report back. thanks again.

Dear, I have AM6B+ with the updated NO patch. For this, do you recommend using this module ā€œ5.15_2.6_dovi_patched_fix_fel.koā€ or ā€œ5.15_2.6_dovi_patched.koā€?
