Are you by chance using above 60hz in your gui? CoreElec NO checks a bit in the DV header in the edid and can lead to a black screen with audio in DV.
I also have the 8 II Tv and 120hz was supported by it but just in case I am asking. I got that problem on an older sony tv but not on the 8 II but worth a look.
@Portisch , I think that 120hz validation should be removed or adjusted because I think CoreElec is thinking that the DV video being played is 120hz but it’s only the gui that is 120hz. The problem I saw in the logs I sent you before is that there is 2 switches to dv, one in 1920x1080x120hz and a second one to 3840x2160x60hz (or 24 or 30hz, etc. Depending on the video being played). I don’t know why the first switch to DV occurs but I think it’s the reason that the video playback is rejected with black screen. Or maybe the dv→sup1080p120hz is set too fast at boot and is based on the gui and it should be check on each DV video playback start instead? I am not sure but it’s just a suggestion.
Thank you very much.
I know I’m a bit late to the party, busy life and all… The DuneHD BoxR 4K was last updated with 20260314 PIers and was running very smoothly since then. Yesterday after reading my huge backlog of this forum’s posts I realized that the April’s fool joke wasn’t indeed a joke ![]()
So, I decided to try the latest nightly, 20260609 and it turned out to be… a journey into perfection… plain and simple!
After the update, I had to update my skin of choice from the GIT version (AeonNox SiLVO) and rebuild my main menu (annoying but no big deal).
I can not emphasize this enough : THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU the CoreELEC team for all your VERY HARD WORK !!!
This is truly AMAZING ! Every single thing I tested worked perfectly, every single video whatever the format, from old interlaced MPEG2 demos, VC-1 movies, etc, to DV7 FEL or course, multichannel PCM audio (already fixed in 20260314) and even the thing that bothered me a lot, the Delay after change of refresh rate which didn’t work before (frozen image at best) and is now back to 3 seconds so I don’t get the sound before the image when starting a video because the TV is a bit slow switching to the new mode (no QMS unfortunately).
Again : THANK YOU !!! I really wish there was a way to reward the team somehow.
PS: Sorry for the language now but across my readings in this forum, I have a message for all the stupidsumers, the whiners, the demanders and those do-nothing-and-expect-everything-for-free and this message is simple : calm down
CoreELEC team work hard as hell for FREE, they spend countless hours developing, testing, buying stuff out of their own pocket to test/hack. They owe you nothing and you have nothing to ask of them. Just be glad, honored and feel the privilege that you can benefit from their work for free.
BE RESPECTFUL TOWARDS THEM
being thankfull for one group (=CE dev team), does not mean you have to insult other peoples (peoples reporting issue’s).
we all know the efforts of the dev team. i am (and many people with me are) also thankfull for their efforts. but that doesn’t mean i am going to insult other people who have problems or report issue’s.
so, cool down, plz….
I am cool
People having issues are out the scope of my message, anyone can have issues and need help, I was one asking for support in some matters. These people respect the rules by providing samples, logs, whatever is asked of them for proper support.
What I can’t accept and can’t stand is people jumping here with some kind of arrogance thinking CE is required by some stretch of imagination to drop everything they’re doing and give them support like it was a birth right. Who these people think they are?
totally agree with you that some people think they can demand and require support, like it is the obligation of the dev team to answer their questions and solve the problems.
some people think that this project for dev team their regular job is.
once again, THANKS to the whole team for their efforts and time doing this great project, already for many years
