That’s what we (the customers) are simply because it’s cheaper from the manufacturer perspective and also because it drastically reduces the TTM (Time To Market).
I don’t mind being a betatester for projects like CoreELEC because they work for free and if they can invest boatloads of their time, knowledge and efforts, I can certainly spend some time of my own to help them when I can.
I certainly do not want to be a beta tester for something I paid! I pay to get a final and tested product, not to also invest my own time to finish their work for them, without any benefit other than “don’t complain, it finally works, well almost…”.
@jamal2367 Hi
I can’t send you a DM, or I can’t find the place to do it (normally I have a sufficient level to be able to do it in theory).
Now that the NO version of CoreElec is starting to become usable on the Homatics R 4k Plus with Android TV 14, do you think it would be possible for you to update your “Reboot to CoreElec” application so that it works again?
Or have you completely abandoned support for this box?
I think that’s not the problem. In ATV14 you can’t turn on wireless debugging. Don’t know why.The option is there, but it’s not possible to turn it on. So “Reboot to coreELEC” is not able to do his job. Shizuku also.
Long story short, it’s too much magic for Jamal.
ADB USB debugging is needed you mean ?
Not wireless.
I didn’t try yet.
EDIT : no problem to active USB debugging.
But indeed the wireless debugging does not activate. I don’t think it’s this option that needs to be activated to make Reboot to CoreElec functional…
hey there, I’m struggling to downgrade my Dune Homatics using that tool which was posted some time ago here. My device goes through some USB something Mode to Fastboot and reboots later, it’s not getting recognized by laptop in any moment. Should the AC adapter be plugged while pushing a button below USB port and then I need to plug the cable to my laptop, or should it be visible in the tool without any charger? Unluckily that guide in .pdf doesnt explain much about getting into that flashing mode.
Yes, of course using a thin object to reach the recovery/fastboot button to access CoreElec still works.
I wanted the app to reboot into CoreElec when we are on the Android TV interface, but I actually forgot that it was enough to restart the box (by pressing and holding the power button on the remote) with the USB stick inside for it to reboot primarily and automatically into CoreElec…
DuneHD Box R is a fantastic device and I’m incredibly happy with it but be careful. If the AndroidTV version is BEFORE 14 (ie: 11) then CE-NG is perfect and you’ll be happy.
If the AndroidTV is 14 then you’ll face a bit of trouble. To achieve what you want, you’ll be forced to manually downgrade the ATV firmware, see here Homatics Box R 4K Plus - #5532 by clarkss12
disclaimer: I prevented any ATV update on my box from day 1 (ie: no internet access) so I’ve not faced the issues with ATV14 and did not have to downgrade. I did not verify this tutorial. Don’t shoot the messenger
Just got a DuneHD Box R. So far so good!
Quick question, for the “Convert Dolby Vision for compatibility” setting, what should this be set to? Default (8.1) or Lossless?
The box is hooked up to my Denon AVR which is connected to a Sony X90K.
It depends what ATV version the R 4K Plus is running. The ATV11/12 dovi.ko from the eMMC is compatible with CE-NE, ATV14 with CE-NO, ATV9/10 with CE-NG.
If the ATV Linux kernel version is different than the CE version you want to run, the dovi.ko will need to be copied over. No CE releases ever included a dovi.ko.
