Homatics Box R 4K Plus

i tried it but all the time it cant boot up … is there any settings in android what i need to turn on to boot up?

What version of Android is the box running?

Hi, I’m planning to buy this device especially for DV FEL playback.
My questions:

  1. Does it matter if I buy Homatics Box R 4K Plus or Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus? I’d like to avoid the white version, if possible.
  2. I’m planning on using CE-NG for the FEL mode. If I understand correctly, I need to downgrade to ATV 12 if it comes with 14 from factory. Is this correct?
  3. If I don’t want to touch eMMC, I can just keep using it from USB? What kind of USB do you use? There are some the size of a Logitec nano USB receiver, is it OK to leave one plugged in 24/7?

I’ve read some comments about not being able to turn this on/off, I need to solder an IR receiver, etc. Can you tell me about this?
Can I just not turn it off? Or not turn it back on?

  1. White is Homatics
Black is Dune Homatics , so in this case Your choice is Dune

    • No
Fel work good on both ATV versions, with CE-NG
  2. I got some Usb3.0 no name , plugged in 24/7 , no problem what so ever
    I do not turned off

Thanks! I’ve just read it many times that ATV 14 is buggy with CE-NG and I need to revert to 12 for the best stability. So it seems that ATV 14 also works?

Works for me just fine

you won’t be able to move CE data to eMMC if using Android 14 on NG, I did downgrade to lastest Android 12 as I want data partition on eMMC for better performance, I have two Homatics and one Dune, all of them Android 12 build 7954.

Newest one 14 i think

yes but it won’t work on CoreELEC NG when using Android 14.

Guys, little tip, if you don’t get CoreELEC working on the box, took me hours (experienced flasher):
If it does not show up CoreELEC and instead boots to Android, whatever you do (adb, app and button reset, different versions of CE…), try to boot without copying the devicetree (dtb) file first, use the left port (USB2). If if shows up and hangs, unplug power, goto PC, copy/move dtb then: [StickLetter]:/device_trees/sc2_s905x4_sei_smb_280.dtb → [StickLetter]:/dbt.img. Then plug stick back into USB2 and it worked for me.

So i need to downgrade to what andorid?

Android 12, there is guides on how to do that, I did that with latest Homatics I bought that came with Android 14.

Thank you very múch guys i ll try it

please could you sent me direct link to guide how to install android 12 ? cant find it … Thanks

I just gave the link, check under rescue firmware folder there is a text guide, follow it closely so you don’t do any wrong.

I run ATV14 on the Dune version and it behaves differently than when I was running 11/12. Mine on initial startup with a USB stick in the USB 3 slot does not work with the normal toothpick reset trick and I was not getting CE to start that way.

The solution for me, and I’ve done this several times, is that I hold the toothpick down until the bootup process loops at least couple of times and then release it and allow it to enter the Android recovery menu. From there, I am able to select “Reboot System Now” and CoreElec starts up without any issue.

Again, your mileage may vary, but it’s worked for me each time.

New here, so go easy on me ;). Believe the predominant (currently available) Homatics box does not play MPEG2 or VC1 properly. But, does the Dune Homatics box with CE or on Android TV side?

Does the CoreElec USB work in the USB-C on the back? Or I need to plug it into the front ports?

no it won’t work back, I use the back for a fan.
