For ATV 14 it is recommended to use CoreElec-NO version flshed on a 32GB device.

I’m considering getting either the original Homatics or the Dune variation.
I would like to keep using my old MX3/TX3 IR remote that I have keymaps/remote configs for.
I understand the original Homatics doesn’t come with a built in IR receiver, however this remote comes with a USB Wireless Receiver dongle.
My (dumb?) question is: Do I even need the Dune built-in IR receiver if I have that USB dongle?
Homatics just seems to have more current support (I think it ships with ATV 14 vs Dune with 11).

And I use this nice small one from Samsung, and it is very fast in usage (in my opinion) 
At this moment, no support from either of them. Regarding the firmware, most important ones are out in the open, you can put the one you like most on either of those, they can use the exact same firmware.

hope someone can help me. I bought Homatics box 4k plus just because I wanted Coreelec, I received the box yesterday, and I’m going crazy, to have Coreelec. the box arrived with ATV 14 PRE-INSTALLED. I followed the coreelec guide but nothing worked. Tried 10 different releases, ne ng nexus nightly 20 21 and 22, my box only different dtb , but nothing , only go to fastboot or show mme usb burning mode.
mY First player was wd tv live about 15years ago, with wdtvlx fw, and the second was med8er Med800X3D, so, I came from hard time those were times when people worked hard, and a lot, to get, codecs, libraries posters, et etc. Now I think to sell this kind of ‘‘player’’, becuse is not as I expected.
Ah MED800X3D, what a great, especially 3D, player that was.
Once when you boot to CE, will be easyer.
You need try in other usb port.
You could try:
- Enable USB debugging
- Download this APK: Release Reboot to CoreELEC 5.0 · jamal2362/Reboot-to-CoreELEC · GitHub
- Insert your CE prepared USB stick in the USB3 port
- Run the Reboot to CoreELEC app and choose “First reboot”
Note: Make sure you renamed your DTB to “dtb.img” and put it in the root of the flash drive.

Update: After about ten minutes of a loop between blue screen and Homatics logo home screen, while I was doing something else, I turned around and saw a green screen with a message saying “Welcome to CoreElec.”
Now I don’t know why, but the CoreElec logo never appeared during boot. Furthermore, no one, not even the guide, says that you need at least a Bluetooth mouse, because the remote doesn’t work.
Use your tv’s remote for coreelec on the homatics. It’s complicated to use the homatics remote on both coreelec AND android tv. Or get another BT remote (eg ugoos ur02) for coreelec
The remote will work in IR mode if you copy the correct remote.conf file to the root of the flash drive before booting from it:
Yes, BT need pair in this box after the boot. Just made IR mod, then all will be ok.
