I’d like some news from amologic on what the hell has happened to there S908x that was due for release in 2019,were nearly in 2023 and not even whisper from them

Knock yourself out.

Yes. I think Khadas just needs to include the image url on their servers (once released). Otherwise you can also setup your own local http server for oowow if I understood correctly.
Correct me if I’m wrong @hyp-hop

Instructions from my notes file:

# make mdns announce in lan like

avahi-publish-service -s "oowow-mirror" _device-info._tcp $PORT ipv4=$IP

# $IP:$PORT is download server ip and port

# download file must be vim4-*.img.[gz|xz|zst]

A private server for CE on Oowow removes all the interest of Oowow in my opinion. It is especially interesting for the “collective” aspect; and being guaranteed to get the latest version of CE all the time with ease, would be great.

Anyway, with or without Oowow, I can’t wait to try CE on VIM4. Is it an Alpha version about to be released? Thanks for the job.

It is useful for development when using own images.

Obviously ordinary users would like to use online beauty of Oowow

  1. Burn CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.arm-20.0-Nexus_devel_20220929082110-Generic.img.gz on uSD with balena
  2. Copy t7_a311d2_khadas_vim4.dtb to the root folder and rename to dtb.img
  3. Place the uSD in VIM4 and power it ON
  4. Boot OWOW as always, no CoreELEC, no Kodi…

Ubuntu on uSD boot just fine on VIM4, so Upgrade mode is not the problem here.

The generic image do need Android on eMMc as base. The unique VIM4 image isn’t public yet.
