Yes, also the fact the vendor modify the kernel to support both hardware revisions when there is already a long time used Amlogic multiDTB.
So you can ship one dtb.img with multiple hardware configurations inside.
It’s easy configurable by amlogic-dt-id and all would be fine and no kernel hack would be need at all.
But again, as the bootloader is locked the game is over anyway for this device.
First my device’s bootloader will not be locked because I (and many others) use my device CoreELEC only.
Secondly it will take not much time until G@@gle teams up with manufacturers of phones and player devices to forbid any ecosystems not delivered by G@@gle. The play is already ongoing on the market, ordered by the streaming services and moneymongering conglomerates.
What happens with Kinhank G1 is only one of the early symptoms we see.
I am signing the petition for continued support.
I bought the Kinhank G1 solely because it is CE supported. CE made it a great buy as it turned it into a device that works without a single problem.
Please don’t leave us without support!
@hungphutho, didn’t do the update until I recently brought my G1 from my holiday place, but several days ago I finally updated it with your version. Update went flawlessly, same as in your video tutorial, all OK.
I must say that CE works perfectly as before, and the Android side is improved with HDR options. The OTA updates just don’t start, as you intended, so there is no way that G1 can be blocked that way.
Thank you very much for making this box so usable, it even gives me less “trouble” than my AM6B+.
Edit: the last part in this sentence should be : it even gives me no “trouble” like AM6B+
To be fair, although I have about 40 posts in this topic, in only 3 I wrote “how great this device is”, so comparing me with @iMediaPi is not fair, although G1 is great
@ vpeter it’s not the same device anymore, to be fair Team CoreELEC deemed it worthy to back it with official support did they not? did the same team not announce to drop support, so did they not change their mind based on the evidence provided?
That’s all I’ve done, when I heavily recommended the box I based it on what was I saw. Now I see it was a bait and switch and lambasting it just as much.
To be fair, I did tell you a month or two ago that KinHank is the biggest brand in illegal game console emulators loaded with tens of thousands of pirated games. And that they load & sell CoreELEC and EmuElec on many of their devices, without permission. But still you kept pumping the KinHank G1 even though this device should have been banned from using CE just for those reasons alone.
But you didn’t seem to care that KinHank steals from everyone including this project, just to save $20-30 over other boxes from legitimate companies.
And just a general warning. We have nothing to do with how you get your media but we don’t support the use of banned addons. That’s it. Keep what you do to yourself.
I have seen you state this before, but could not find any evidence that they use CoreElec preloaded or sold in their boxes. Do you have any link where this can be checked?
If this is true, why doesn’t CE team take any action against them?
If Nintendo, Sony, Sega can’t stop KinHank, what sort of action can CE take against a company in China.
They sell A LOT more models loaded with EmuELEC than CE (search KinHank on amazon). But EE is closely related to CE. The head dev is a CE team member. In my eyes taking from EE is taking CE. The EE kernel comes directly from CE.
Their FAQ states they don’t support these companies, and the EE community refuses to offer support to anyone that buys one of these boxes.
All SDMC devices from 2023 onwards are bootloader locked when ota update , . because they are under pressure from pay tv providers who bought their devices.
not only SDMC but even ggtv s905d3 with the first version could run linux but later also completely locked.
Currently only sei robotics devices is not locked.
