The Chromecast (Sabrina) was always locked, it was only because of a bootrom hack that it could boot Linux.
Correct. it wont boot anymore.
can something be done about it?
i had the same problem once.
the only way i could restore my G1 device was to flash the bootloader to the sdcard
sudo dd if=bootloader-file.img of=/dev/sdX conv=fsync,notrunc bs=1 count=444
sudo dd if=bootloader-file.img of=/dev/sdX conv=fsync,notrunc bs=512 skip=1 seek=1
That’s right , thanks
sounds good.
but…
I’m not a “super user”.
I know a little bit, but not at that level.
If you can tell me the steps I would really appreciate it.
You use Etcher to write this file to the sdcard.
bootloader-file.img (4 MB)
This device is not at all great, but a very good choice for CoreELEC media playing. My VIM3Pro is resting now and G1 is working with an excellent @cpm build on it. Seamless DoVi and HDR play without overheating or other issues. Please respond to this remarks only if you have other, bad media playback experiences with the G1.
@vpeter Could You help out and tell us where should we copy the latest Kinhank.dtb, what is the procedure if we apply an update.tar which doesn’t contain DTB for Kinhank G1 yet?
OK, maybe a wrong choice of words, but since I had G1 and Nokia 8010 for 10 days working parallelly I could extensively test them and compare. My conclusion, whether someone likes it or not, G1 is a better box: it costs less, it runs cooler, it’s UI is more responsive, it has an uSD card slot so both USB ports are free, it has an ON/OFF button… All this makes G1 better box than 8010, in my opinion of course.
Do you know if this mentioned “KINHANK Amlogic S905X4 Retro Video Game Console” also has locked bootloader?
It is twin of vontar x4. Don’t mind it, very poor quality, hot temperature because using 8 pcs ddr3 ram.
I agree with you, I have all the DV FEL boxes here. G1 is better than homatics Box R 4k plus, Rocktek G2, Nokia 8010, lower temperature because of big main design, components placed far apart, 1 pcs LPDDR4x, however currently there is no sound on spdif port on coreelec.
Done.
Then
I put the SD card into the device.
HDMI cable and power.
The screen went black.
And then?
I forgot to run the flash.bat file.
So, I flashed again and ran the bat.
Now, the “make your life colorful” screen appears and it restarts every 3 seconds.
Does anyone know how to solve it?
Have you set audio output to ALSA: AML-AUGESOUND,S/PDIF ?
There may be other problem too like here.
Maybe the DTB needs some changes too.
Hello, I have a kinhank g1 with coreelec in the internal memory deleting the original firm I would like to have the original firm again if the adaptive hdr works if you could send it to my email or somewhere I would appreciate it fidelon7@hotmail.com thank you in advance and excuse my translator English
Is the video available somewhere else now please? I downloaded the firmware a while ago but only got round to finding time today but there are no instructions and no video to follow any more!
If you don’t get it, I can send you the video tutorial, but it has only Vietnamese audio, so you cannot get subtitle translation; but it’s quite self explanatory to follow, and easy to do all the needed steps in correct sequence.
That would be great if you could please, I got English subtitles working when it was up on Youtube although they were far from perfect…
Hello!
Here’s the raw translation!
