Kinhank G1

Wifi ok?
Dev fel ok?

If not @MrMind can you please do dtb for ce-no with WiFi?

Thanks.

Wifi will never work when the PCIe driver doesn’t function properly.
Only NG has DV fel and no other kernel.
And there’s no point of creating multiple dtbs, just use the closest Dtb file with your device specs. like for the other revison X4rev-d 100Mb go with the generic and activate what is needed, take a look at some other devices topics which has the same Wi-Fi chip and use the commands to make your device work better.

Whats even better Is TV LED mode is working
Play back test file is
8 - bit RGB DV-Std Bt .709

On the X96X10 PRO S928X-J TV LED mode is broken
Play back is
8 - bit YUV 444 SDR Bt .709

Unreal

Thanks for the idea to test!!

how soon do you need it? Aliexpress are sneaky, they just had one of their biggest sale, I made a post that with discount in UK you could get the AM6B+ for $120 pre tax

https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=376035&pid=3217203#pid3217203

So after 20% tax you are looking at 138.05 Euros
we’ll get another sale soon and they raise their prices in between so it makes it look like a really big discount. I wouldn’t buy either boxes right now.

Seems many are really happy with the kinhank G1 and some have said “since I had G1 and Nokia 8010 for 10 days working parallelly I could extensively test them and compare. My conclusion, whether someone likes it or not, G1 is a better box: it costs less, it runs cooler, it’s UI is more responsive, it has an uSD card slot so both USB ports are free, it has an ON/OFF button… All this makes G1 better box than 8010, in my opinion of course.”

I don’t have any devices so I couldn’t advise. what are your needs? what will you need the box for? ask in the best box thread to and others who have both to suggest a box to you

also keep in mind that KinHank G1 is unsupported by CoreELEC. the AM6B+ would be better supported in the future.

In Android the WiFi is always on/stable and can watch high bitrate films in kodi bia smb/nfs/plex no problem.

That’s why I believe it’s the dtb, right now us 100ms can only use @MrMind revision dtb(Ugoos x4 gets blue screen no boot).

If coreelec team or dev competent like you or @MrMind can somehow built a better wifi dtb using the android side code that will be much appreciated and will help many of us without needing the USB3 to Ethernet cable.

Thanks.

There is no support in new kernel 5.1.5.137
For wifi chip assembly. Or Bluetooth.

Same as on my older G1 with version 2 board from 05 2024.

Iam not sure why Ugoos X4 DTB boots fir my box with working Ethernet.

Do you have Dolby Vision working?

Who told you to use 1Gb Dtb on 100Mb device which has no ethernet chip?!
If you come across this topic, you should know how to do it yourself!
No need to create 1000 files dtbs for a device that gets changed its parts every couple time. It will create more confusion. Device is not supported and not recommended to buy. But if it happens that you already have one, then keep using the box.
Your device has to use generic S905X4_4G Dtb> the rest depends on you as a user of a generic box.

The revision did happen after it was discovered CoreELEC could make use of the gigabit ethernet. Could be to do with future upgrades and their ability to sell the new boxes.

If that’s the case then why would they put more resources to do further hardware revisions?

99% of Kodi users would not even notice the difference both using ethernet or wifi 6. That being the case then I would say this is the best value box that does almost everything and so I would recommend this box. The only other issue now is locked bootloader but spending $1.60 extra and spending 30 minutes to downgrade firmware would solve that.

KinHank G1 could be a great box even at it’s current state. Those that have used it are rating it above Homatics box. which is like $99. You’re talking like it’s close to the end for this box but seems more and more interest is on this box.

I wonder if a device is meant to be sold as ATV box, then what would stop a manufacturer from changing parts. Especially when there’s nothing can tell what’s inside the box, no specified of ethernet or Wi-Fi chip model. In the end the box will still serve its purpose as ATV box.
I believe the change of revision has nothing to do with CE at all.
Soc 905X4rev b can’t have ethernet functionality without an independent ethernet chip, that’s why they had to throw a way Gig chip (same cost as normal 100M), then by the time Soc rev d was available with the ability to give 100M without the need to have Ethernet chip on board.
SDMC is not alone in this industry, and some other manufactures like the one here did the same or even worse.
Yes, the first revision is a good box, and only because the efforts of CE team and some members here. But that was in the past. So, in the current state device is not recommended and not supported anymore, what was in the past stays in the past. And I don’t like to put pressure on any Dev members when I keep recommending a generic box with unknown parts and revisions.

You throw the baby out with the bath too quickly… As for now this Kinhank G1 android box is clearly above many other more expensive ones and thanks to @hungphutho @MrMind and several others including CE team it remains interesting and versatile

Hi,
I’m trying to unlock bootloader, but it’s impossible for me.
When I run command sdc_update bootloader bootloader.img, I get this error
ERROR can’t read MBR header
gpt is invalid
storage write bootloader failed.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Did you copy this file to the SD card?

Bootloader.img

Yes. I copied the bootloader.img file included in bootloader.7z

Look right above your cursor
Burn complete
Burn boot… OK
Burn boot…OK

Save your session

Now see if hungphutho rom will flash

Good luck

Happy Testing

About 10 lines above the cursor, you can read Storage Write Bootloader Failed.
The Custom Rom doesn’t flash. I’ve been trying it, but it doesn’t work. At 3%, it turns red and says something about a password.
Thanks for answering.

I just close my session after running the command sdc_update. I don’t know how to save the session. Maybe it’s important, I don’t know

Ok
Dont need to save session

Wrong bootloader image

The compressed 7zip has already been edited
So unzip and copy over to clean/formated /SD Card.

Just copy
Do not write or burn

Connect u-art and repeat process

I have just tested with the latest nightly version from Dec 19th, and low bitrate(around 25mbps) P5 DV files are playing completely fine for me on WiFi along with FF & RW. (I use a Kodi UPnP network share)

For me, the issues arise only with the high bitrate Remux files where sometimes the playback starts out fine but at some point begins stuttering and doesn’t recover. This is with the box less than 2 meters away from the router with a clear line of sight without anything in between.

I think you should find a different box that has a good WiFi card and antenna since you are unable to go for a wired setup.

If you’re planning to keep the box, you can also give the USB to WiFi adapters a try. It seems like CE supports them.
