Looking for users with no working WiFi or BT

Hi
Device: This random chineese box with S905X / AP6330 / Coreelec 19.5-Matrix_rc2
Status: I’ve always used Coreelec 19 with this device. Wifi was working before. 5ghz, bluetooth, everything.
Now the wireless device doesn’t even show at all. Bluetooth, no adapter found.

It must’ve broken sometime in 2022 but I’m not sure when exactly, because I’ve switched to using ethernet early this year.

# udevadm info /sys/bus/sdio/devices/*
Unknown device "/sys/bus/sdio/devices/*": No such device

# dmesg | paste
http://ix.io/4fcT

http://ix.io/4fcT

use the option “WiFi SoC SDIO Speed” in CE settings and try again

I switched SDIO speed to slow, saw the dtb.img message, and press reboot form the power menu. After reboot, it’s still same.

# udevadm info /sys/bus/sdio/devices/*
Unknown device "/sys/bus/sdio/devices/*": No such device
# dmesg | paste
http://ix.io/4fcY

Thanks

When no devices are found it’s maybe broken?

It may be, though I have no knowledge on how to check that. If you’re positive it wasn’t a kernel regression I guess only way to verify is I’ll install older releases into a new sd card and try these.

WIFI and Bluetooth have no drivers

system:CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-20.0-Nexus_nightly_20221103-Generic.img

WIFI and Bluetooth chips should be: Unisoc UWE5621DS

Using the modified COREELEC WIFI and bluetooth can work normally

Thanks

Wifi works for me with this image, both 2.4ghz and 5ghz on a x96 max plus ultra box.

udevdam http://ix.io/4fr6
dmesg http://ix.io/4fr7

I installed 19.3 version back and it can’t see any sdio devices neither. It must’ve got broken sitting here by itself

Unfortunately Android also got broken by itself some time ago so I can’t try it there. Any idea if re-flashing the stock image along with u-boot would fix it or is it truly a hardware damage?

Hi @Portisch. I have a Lipa X96 X4 (4GB/32GB) box which had the same udevadm output as the one kris007 sent earlier so I decided to give this test image a try. For me I can confirm that wlan is working with this test image (Gbit ethernet was already working). Unfortunately, bluetooth is not working yet for me. Can you help me?

CoreELEC:~ # udevadm info /sys/bus/sdio/devices/* | paste

http://ix.io/4hiT

CoreELEC:~ # dmesg | paste

http://ix.io/4hiU

I am currently working on this device. I saw wifi is working, but not on every boot. And BT is an open item what needs to be checked also, yes.

Wow, thanks for the super-quick response! I wanted to mention that I tested several builds, each time with the sc2_s905x4_4g_1gbit devicetree. See below for the testing results. If you need me to test something and/or provide logs, please let me know.

Tested versions
Working: Gbit lan. Not working: wlan, bluetooth
CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-19.5-Matrix_rc2
CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-20.0-Nexus_nightly_20221130
CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-20.0-Nexus_beta1

Working: Gbit lan, wlan. Not working: bluetooth
CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-19.5-Matrix_devel_20221106074226

Looks like the driver W1-AML is not CE-19, CE-20 Amlogic-ng compatible. But it works with Amlogic-ne 5.4 kernel.

please release this version for all users who want to try it. I know that you made the decision to leave it only for a small group due to the appreciation of a user about the ceemmc license and other parts owned by Coreelec Team, but we are paying just for sinners. please reconsider.

We tried it and it was not accepted by some users so we need to finish up it first before public release.
I think it will not take much time anymore… It’s almost done.

Like Portisch already stated:

We will not do this and it is not open for discussion. We tried previously to have the users involved only to be questioned about our motives. We refuse to repeat the experience.

Users will have to wait till we decide to release a suitable candidate. Untill then, internal testing with a selected group of individuals will continue.

For now, practice patience and accept the situation.

The takeaway: we gave users the chance to participate in our early testing process, and they blew it.

Before anyone replies, remember the saying: it only takes one rotten apple to spoil the barrel. Don’t be that apple.

~ Patience is not the ability to wait but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.

Thanks for answering. We’ll wait, no problem.

Hi! Any idea if the FN-LINK K255B-SR could work in the future?

Thanks
