I just wander how come some have such problems, and some not…
I have a cheap USB n/ac WiFi (2.4/5G) dongle, Rii mini i8 USB wifi (2.4G) keyboard dongle, 1T USB3.0 disk and 32GB USB3.0 Sandisk Ultra Fit stick connected to 4 USB3.0 ports all the time, and everything works without a glitch ALL the time. No wifi problems at all on 2,4GHz(ch11) or 5GHz(ch36) channels.
I can confirm that my issue with WiFi is only on the hardkernel 5a USB WiFi adapter, so it may be an issue with drivers/kernel or something with that chipset. I am now using an Asus wireless AC USB dongle and it is working fine.
There are plenty of users on the Odroid N2 Issues forum with these problems. There is a known interference with the 2.4ghz freq band and USB 3.0 . Part of HK Odroid N2 team has been investigating the problem for over a week. They were able to reproduce the problem. Guys trying to use 2 USB 3.0 devices in a Raid conf also have the problem. Consider yourself lucky you don’t have problems.
Issue with resolution switching to 4k on Vizio M series 2015 still remains on latest nightly (28th of May). There was a test build posted in this thread with a proposed fix for this problem. I havent had a chance to test this just yet. Could this “fix” be pushed to the nightlies so I wont have to wipe kodi? @stillmatic have you tested this “fix” yet? Thanks to all the amazing support here.
The only thing/unusual behavior I noticed is with the placement of the WiFi dongle. When I got it I plugged it in the USB port nearest to HDMI output; it worked as intended. After a few days I made some changes and plugged WiFi to the port above the initial one, and in that port it did not work AT ALL. Returned it to the port where it was initially placed, and it’s there for over a month working without problem. Use it on 5GHz channel 36.
Also my N2 is placed so that USB ports are are facing away from my sitting position and I had problem with my 2.4GHz keyboard. It wasn’t responsive as I was used to, so I made a short USB extension cable and run it under the box and aligned it with the front of the box. Now there is no keyboard response problem, and the dongle is placed about 11cm away from WiFi dongle.
Maybe this has something to do with my luck for having no WiFi/USB problems
I recieved my N2 yesterday and everything works fine, even with hyperion.
Other then the known issues from the first topic. (LPCM via HDMI, wich i used with my 905x box)
I use Hyperion too, do I still need the double_write for HEVC?
Or is there a build laying around that fixed that already?
Ahhh- so you did have indications of the interference problem–but rather than luck–it was your skill that fixed it My understanding is 5gb does not have the interference problem, so using that would also remove the interference. For those that have a 2.4gb only–try using a 3’ USB extension cable to place the device further away from the USB 3.0 ports.
A reply on odroid forums: “We think the USB host driver and DMA driver seem to cause the issue. But we still have no firm solution yet. We need more time to analyze the root causes precisely.”
This would rule out an interference problem—perhaps–but maybe they are totally different problems.
I have not tested it yet as I’ve been out of the country. I will try to make time when I get back, but I’m also ok with white-listing frequencies as a work-around.
Why do you use Flirc if you have an Xbox Remote? If you run the remote control directly over the internal IR receiver, you can use “Wake on IR” and you have another free USB port.
