Odroid n2 video crahes

perfect, will try with this version. 20190803
if issue exists, will downgrade some days till issue isnt there anymore

we thought it was around august 14th…we’ll try to have a look on our side too

i’m sure i had no issue at the beginning of august…20190803 seems a bit too old to me

this was the version i flashed initialy after i changed from stable:
CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-9.1-nightly_20190810-Odroid_N2.img.gz
and if i remember, the issue already exists here.

issue exists here too for me: CoreELEC (official): nightly_20190803 (Amlogic-ng.arm)

next test: CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-9.1-nightly_20190711.tar

maybe the issue is different for you having more usb devices than i have…i will try to report the version with which a friend and i had the issue…but for us it was these days

i tried now with only 1 hdd connected. stable 9.0.3

dmesg | grep reset
I think you will see usb related event
Check odroid forum, there are some topics with related issue. I don’t know if they have some working workaround
I don’t have this issue on one HDD connected

wow, thanks @boot2k3

As minimum you can reconnect in micro-usb 2.0 slot… You will lose in speed, but it stable

Ok, i think i found the issue.

i changed the usb hub between my n2 and my Harddrives.
Now the usb hub has a power adapter too and usb 3.0 for all hdds.

i thought its a n2 or coreelec issue, because it worked on my previous setup with a raspberry pi 3 flawless.
i will update to latest nightly and try if i can find any other crashes.

I tried several nightly builds this evening to resume a movie i had issue with. I was able to complete my movie with CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-9.1-nightly_20190811.tar

I think the issue began with CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-9.1-nightly_20190812.TAR

With CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-9.1-nightly_20190812 and CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-9.1-nightly_20190813 i had issues and went back from 13 to 12 and then 12 to 11 to finish my movie.

I will confirm tomorrow with a new movie…

As far as i’m concerned i don’t try anything else than trying other builds because nothing has changed in my hardware configuration. Hope this helps.

One last thing : if i can confirm tomorrow that 1st faulty build, i’ll try also to revert to the faulty one and try again a 2160p movie (when having troubles with 1080p i had no issues with some 2160p).

@tomti , Also check this one after issue will appear

If not the same than upload dmesg and kodi logs

@boot2k3

Hi

a friend of mine has the same issue with a usb stick (Kingston usb3). We thought it was easy to check. I’m currently checking that i can watch a whole movie(1080p) with the build from august the 11th. Then i will try to update (let’s say today’s nightly) and watch the same movie again. Maybe some 2160p tests then. I will also have a look with at command dmesg (never tried but i’ll look at it)

ok so with the build from august the 11th : no issue
with today’s build : the same movie (1080p h265 for this one) froze in less than 5mn this time (sometimes it takes longer). Would have been the same with any build starting from august the 12nd

this is from the same usb and single drive…For fun i wll try a 2160p movie now

i have exactly the same problem. i can watch a couple of minutes a 4k hdr movie and then it freezes.
unfortunately, the regular kodi.log does not contain any relevant information
i have the current nightly and a wd my book where the movie is stored.
this behaviour (freeze while watching) is new to me.
is there any way to enable debug logging without that annoying information screen (cpu usage etc.) ?

i can reproduce that all the time. i enabled debug logging and uploaded the debug.log to http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=26285563868399756874 but i guess there is no relevant information in it. at least i did not see anything.

@anon26735799

hi

that’s not exactly what i said…i’m about to check again with 2160p but for now i’m only sure i have the issue with 1080 AND usb…It started with nightly august the 12nd

You could try nightly build from august the 11th…Could be interesting too. Witht= that one (or stable version), i have no issues.

http://coreelec.pokey.de/

what is not exactly what you said?
all wd my book devices ARE usb devices.
i will watch now a 1080p movie and see if that crashes too

i will try your link after watching a 1080p movie

I meant that while i was having issues with 1080, then i’ve been able to playback 2160p without issue (by chance or ???)…but i’m about to check this again right now…I have the nightly build from today. I know for sure this one has the freezing issue too (with usb). So now i’m going to playback a tv show in 2160…i’ll post in about one hour

ok…i guess i had chance last time because with a 2160p file, it froze in a matter of seconds this time…I’ll try to look at the debug commands now…

@boot2k3

command

sorry…tried your command…I’m not used to this…Was i right to try from putty ? do i have to stop some services before ?

that was the correct command - there is no reset problem on your n2 as we probably have the same problem

mine just crashed with a 1080p video - so there is some serious bug imo
will go back to an older release now
but watching hd tv stream (not sure if this is also 1080 or 720 or something else) worked the last days for me
