Report about Amlogic S905X4 HK1 RBOX X4

Where is one supposed to put the jl2xx1.ko file?

You don’t need to do anything, ng supports it. Yours seems slightly different since it reports a mac on the command line

The jl2xx1.ko kernel module seems to not be loaded (I let CE update OTA to 19.5RC2 though). Maybe I need to try a dtb other than sc2_s905x4_4g_1gbit

It uses the generic driver not the .ko I didn’t notice any difference in performance building ng from source. Android doesn’t use it either.

In which case I’m back to sometimes getting an IP address on that Ethernet port and showing a link speed of 1000Mbps but it not being stable enough for SSH or SMB transfers.

Since it works with a USB Ethernet dongle, it is still a useful TV box and may become even more so when the NE code becomes available again

My HK1 Rbox X4 pop up OTA update to CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.arm-20.0-Nexus_nightly_20221022. I update it and 1000 LAN is working fine.

That is great to hear! Unfortunately, I am unable to find a ‘ne’ image of any vintage :frowning:

And you won’t for a while. Public testing is closed for now:

Thanks for the clarification.

I was hoping someone had saved a copy and would hook me up with one!

Hi, I can’t get my HK1 RBOX X4 to boot on 20.0-Nexus_beta1 with sc2_s905x4_4g_1gbit.dtb, which shall support JL2XX1 Gigabit Ethernet PHY

Some HK1 devices only have the internal 100Mb devices so try the other dtb if it doesn’t start at all.

Of course it is the Gbit version i have tested on.

How did you determine you have the JL2xx1? My HK1 experience is the dtb.img is missing or wrong when it won’t boot. If it is a JL2xx1 chip it boots but without networking when the mac is not set.

That I don’t know for sure actually.
It boots up with sc2_s905x4_4g.dtb but without network.
And since it is a Gbit version of the HK1 RBOX X4 i assumed it was JL2xx1 chip.

You probably will need to connect via wifi or an external hub’s ethernet to get the dmesg log.

Hi,
Here is my dmesg
https://paste.kodi.tv/jogunahili.kodi

Can the NIC be a Realtek RTL8211F then ?
Is there any other dtb I can try in that case ?

Observations from log

262/263
Wifi bcmdhd

340
Mac 02:21:00:00:00:00
Mac is spoofed?

1428 to 1438
Looks like you tested USB Ethernet Adapter
r8152

Maybe is best to Pop the Top off HK1X4 and physically confirm chipset.
There are 8 tabs comes off easily

Happy Testing

I don’t see the line showing the JL2xx1

[ 0.593409@3]- eth%d: PHY ID 937c4032 at 0 IRQ POLL (stmmac-0:00) active

and if you can’t boot with the 1 GB dtb I don’t know what to suggest other then to follow the advise of @Portisch and not buy this device.
