kodi log with local file
I see no issue when the “logo” is triggered on your TV. I would love such option on my TV.
There is no mode switch or something else done in log.
I’m trying to install CE on my friends AM6 2GB with usb, but it won’t boot CE, it says “upgrading” but nothing, tried with two different USB which worked fine on my AM6B+, latest NG nightly.
edit: same thing with latest stable, hmm.
Did you use the correct DTB? I.e. “am6” and not “am6b”?
yes ofc last resort was to flash the Ugoos dual boot firmware with CE through usb burning tool but even that failed, so might stay with the slimBOXtv firmware and run Kodi Android.
I read all the forums and a lot of google searches later, I am posting an issue I have: I have audio sync on my am6b+, but only with e-ac3 (DD+). The sync is exactly 250ms. No delays on DTS, DTSX, atmos, truehd or pcm. Disabling passthrough also solves the issue (but is less preferable). Have tested it with multiple (10+) files. The delay is the same if I use an audio splitter and go to receiver with a copied signal or connect the am6B+ directly to the tv with earc to my receiver.
Hope a smarter person than mehad this figured out?
Hi,
Can anyone please check this file on the latest NG nightly build:
Sample.Downton.Abbey.S02E09.Christmas.Special.2011.1080i.BD.remux
this is a 29.97fps interlaced video.
on my setup I get a jerk/framedrop every couple of seconds (3-7).
In debug view there are no registered framedrops or skips, sync seems to also be ok and so is display mode/refresh rate. Just wanted to exclude my personal setup issues before start digging the logs and stuff. Tried both locally and via network, no difference.
Thanks!
This is nice, thank you!
I just tried my exact setup with nvidia shield direct play on emby app (same codec) and there is no audio delay,so coreelec or AM6B+ do seem to be the cause. The addon will fix everything of course in the meantime, thank you!
Playback is fine here
Testing on UGOOS Am6b Plus with Latest Nightly. ng
Maybe a little judder right at the start when hanging ornaments on Christmas Tree…
Fast forward then play was fine
As well as resume
Certainly nothing every 3 to 7 secs did i experience.
Was tested locally
Not over network share
I do recognize some actors
One is a Professor at Hogwarts
The other is a Knight in Game of Throne
I see, thanks a lot for the feedback!, might be something with my setup or CE config. Thought at first maybe that’s a file issue, but it plays absolutely fine on PC in several players. Did you check what res/refresh rate your TV switched to? I suspect that it might be something related to interlaced content and the chosen (possibly incorrectly?) display mode. Player info shows video as 1080i@59fps and video mode as 1080p59fps, deinterlacing: hardware.
1080i 29fps sample from kodi (some cut of a NY concert) plays just fine, but it has a bit encoding:
Frame rate mode : Constant
Frame rate : 29.970 (30000/1001) FPS
Scan type : MBAFF
Scan type, store method : Interleaved fields
Scan order : Top Field First
and the one from kodi:
Frame rate mode : Variable
Frame rate : 59.273 FPS
Original frame rate : 29.970 (30000/1001) FPS
Scan type : Interlaced
Scan type, store method : Separated fields
Scan order : Top Field First
Maybe my TV or soundbar does something… (btw, checked again, I would correct my previous estimation to 5-10s between drops/judder). In some scenes it’s less noticeable due to less motion, but it’s very apparent there’s more (at the beginning when the car drives in the forest, and when valet is outside near the departing car).
seems like I found the reason for the judder: my Sony X950G (and a lot of other models) has a Film Mode setting (Off, Auto), mine was set to Auto and it looks like it tries to correct for something that’s not there for this specific file (maybe it still thinks that content is interlaced or refresh rate is wrong). Once set to Off, the video was smooth. Will have to research the function more as official description is pretty vague.
Edit: My guess is that due to signal being 59fps it might think (wrongly) that it needs pulldown or some other processing. As I understood this feature is useful when you are using TV’s native apps (that are always in 60hz) and/or your external source outputs 2Xfps content ‘wrapped’ in 60hz container.
Okay
I did test over smb share on a different Box
X96 X10 PRO S928X-J
To see if different from local
Same results
Only at the start
A slight judder when head Butler heads outside to greet the workers unloading Christmas Tree.
Glad you solved it
thanks again. that’s an interesting result. What TV do you have?
Maybe the issue is reverse: deinterlaced content from the box is still juddery, but Auto logic on the TV messes up the correct processing/de-judder for this specific file (which should happen even without this setting) and turning it Off restores the proper handling… Anyway, it’s worth keeping an eye on this setting as I’ve read that it might be constantly tracking the framerate to check if something needs correction and occasionally misfires (there were framedrops couple of times on the normal 24p movies without any logged buffer or decoding skips, played locally with plenty IO bandwidth).
My LG has a similar feature called “Real Cinema”, and from when I did some research on that, the consensus was that it performs 5:5 pull down (using 120Hz) when it detects 24fps content, instead of the standard 3:2 pull down which can have more judder. But if the output is being matched already from the TV, then this setting seems like it might only cause issues.
But most of the movie not 24fps , but 23,976.
I prefer, to switched off all these marketing hocus-pocus.
I think people just use 24hz and 23.976hz interchangeably. That setting is actually aimed at extracting a 24.976hz stream from 60hz content
99,9% of the CoreElec users want the right freqvency and colour mode switching, and the pure passtrough sounds, based on the source format natively.
Thats why we are here🙂
Otherwise we can just use the builded android tv systems, on the tvs, or other systems with pull down, or another magic.
No thanks.
Yeah agreed. But enabling it on the tv won’t hurt native playback in any way. And it might help the occasional time they watch something on a streaming service. Sky in the uk for example still doesn’t use 23.976hz for anything. Not something I bother with but it’s not damaging in any way to have the option enabled.
I think maybe the format is a factor
It is remux 1080i 8 Bit SDR ?
Would have to check
So max nits and contrast ratio are capped/fixed
Your TV setting (Hocus Pocus)
He he thanks to Frodo for that one !!!
Is messing with contrast ratio
I have TCL Dolby Vision and some Samsungs
They all have different modes
Movie
Game Mode
Sports
Dynamic
Standard
Etc…
Maybe is the issue
